  1. Is there honestly anyone in the Metro Detroit area that *hasn’t* met THE Chuck?

I’ve met people in Milwaukee that have said, “Chuck? Long hair, wheel chair? Yeah, I’ve met him!”

Of course, if I remember right, she was also a worker at the local fest there, and had travelled to ours once or twice.

    • Sometimes one has to wonder if he’s -reaaaaally- as ridiculously Zaphod-Beeblebrox-esque popular as we think, or if we ourselves just have an incredibly narrow social field. ;)

      • I prefer to think of him as a local Kevin Bacon.

Guess we’ll find out if he prefers that, too.. don’t think I’ve mentioned that to him before.

        • Actually, I know several people like myself that fit that bill. A sort of “six degrees of X” thing. But you’re right, the shoe fits. < grin >

          • I’ve met a couple, too. I thought the universe was going to implode when I met a Personal Social Nexus (I much prefer that term… I was thinking about that after I posted) that knew you, too. K Logan, if you remember him.

          • Laugh… Of course. Mr. Logan is one of the nifty people programmed into my cell phone. He and I speak on a somewhat infrequent, but regular basis.

And you’re right, he’s another nexus. And a hell of a dancer, too. :)

          • Hee. Of course, then there’s people like me, who know you from *way* back.

You’re cuter than Kevin Bacon, anyway. ;)

          • I’m not amazed that all the girls know him. *smirk* It’s that al the guys do, too.

    • Chuck once showed up to a party thrown by friends of mine who didn’t know him, he came as an invited guest of one of *their* guests, and it just happened that three of us already at the party knew him.

      It was very bizarre.

“Is that Chuck?” (friend of mine)
      “Who?” (Host)
“Do you know a guy named Chuck?”
“No. But that girl is XXXXXX, she’s a friend of ours.”
      “ITS CHUCK!”

It was the most surreal thing, ever.

  2. Fantastic!

Well that was fun. Where did my youth go? I remember running through Meijer’s with water guns. The other day they played the Safety Dance while I was in Hiller’s and I danced and skipped through the store. I didn’t care about how I looked, I cared about capturing the essence of youth that had begun to slip away.

    • Don’t worry, I won’t let you be a crankypants. ;)

I’ve told the “Meijer Stalking” story (stories) countles times.

      • Meijers Stalking is a wondeful, wonderful thing. I always had a great time with it. :)

Part of me misses the crazy old days. The other part of me realizes that it’s better to be able to stay out of jail for more than simply “not being caught.” < grin >

        • *smiles* Oh, some of the things we did were very bad, but something like the Meijer Stalking was (nearly) innocent fun.

I really didn’t realize exactly how much I was risking, nor that I was living an unusual life.

  3. in related news, the picture at the top there is of my friend from cleveland, who drove up for the con :)
