On need vs. need
from lillyrayne‘s journal:
You know how alot of people hate air conditioning and bitch about it? I AM NOT ONE OF THEM. Bring it on! I sleep wth air conditioning whirling and a ceiling fan blowing right on me. I actually got in an argument last night with my father over AC. “We dont NEED air conditioning.” “No but thanks to the glories of technology, low and behold there it is.” “yes but we dont need it.” “yes we dont and actually, we dont NEED the refrigerator either. Would you like to start going to the store every day to buy food? You could you know. You dont NEED the refrigerator. Its just very very nice to have.” I dont know how he felt about this argument but he turned on the damn air so I won.
Ha!
Amy and I want Central Air, and we have it.
The dog sorta needs it. (He’s a malamute, and probably wouldn’t do so well outside when it’s 90 and humid)
All the luddites out there can go without AC if they want.. that will mean there will be less of a draw on the grid to compete with me. :-)
Ecactly, I have a chow/collie mix. That pup cant even step out into the heat without panting profusly.
I cant stand AC, not only does it give me terrible headaches, but my nose bleeds if I am in it too long. I despise it with ever fiber, that and it cost so much to run it in our apt, our bill jumps. My roomate has it on as much as she can, its a constant fight over it, I turn it off she turns it on. I can keep the nose bleeds and headaches away if I keep my window open to the out side and shut off the vent to my room but that makes it run even more because of the warm air coming in. Its lose lose for me.
I have a very high internal temperature, and with my all-natural insulation *smirk*, I get very, very hot. My grandmother required the AC to be on all the time in the summer in her house because she didn’t sweat at all.
Yeah so it must be good for you, for some reason I have a very low internal temp, even at the dr office on a normal day my temp is at least 1 degree below normal. just the way people are made I guess. Sorry about the last comment I was in a very bad mood and the headache wasnt helping.
Look, sweetie- Angie and I are both tolerating higher temperatures than we like due to your nose bleeds and other issues. But the fact is it was 92 degrees outside yesterday, and Angie was home all day at the height of it. You weren’t there. She was. All throughout winter she and I left our windows open at night because you had the heat up so high. And we tolerated it pretty much without complaint because we knew you were uncomfortable. I pay half the electric bill. We live on the third floor. Heat generated by appliances and electricity in the apartments below us also rises into ours. Without anything on it is easily 5 to ten dregrees hotter in our apartment than it is outside. Angie and I both talked about this, and neither of us think it ought to be too big a deal for you to leave your window open and turn on your humidifier when it’s over 85 degrees outside so that she and I don’t suffer heat exhaustion. If the bill is too terrible we will work something out. If it is under 85 she and I will suck it up and suffer. But there is a certain point where you need to consider that other people are also uncomfortable.
OK, however here is my issue, during the day I dont care if it is on. I have told angie that before. MY problem was last night it was 68 degrees out when I got home yet the AC was still running full blast and with my vents closed it makes a very annoying whistling sound the keeps me up. The humidifyer isnt working I had to throw it out. I understand lots of heat during the day sucks which is why I didnt care during the day but at night when its below 70 I dont see why we need to run it when opening a window with a fan works just as well.
I didn’t turn it on. No- i didn’t turn it off, but merely because I didn’t care one way or the other. I am glad we three talked about it today and reached a fairly decent compromise.
I am glad as well, better to talk about it then let things simmer.
I, too, am glad. Heh. Specifically since I was thinking of my A/C at home, which they’ve yet to repair, and was unaware of AirWars in Lansing, when I made my post.
Less of a war more of a small battle, I hope you get yours fixed soon though!
