Books vs Movies, Great Comedy vs. Great Storytelling

What is wrong with me, where I can easily justify buying the DVDs for Dangermouse, but I can’t convince myself to buy a new hardcover copy of the first book I ever read, one I rate 5 stars with a bullet, even though it is half the price and completely out of print?

  1. Dude, it’s Dangermouse.

    • Well… yeah. *grins*

A few years ago, I created a whole audio theme on my desktop based on DM. :) Errors: Ooh CRUMB! Shut down was the theme ending in the explosion. etc. etc.

  2. Dangermouse! Whee!

  3. What, indeed, when that money could as easily go to financing the cost of video games?

    • *grins* I don’t buy videogames – I know my addiction well enough to avoid it as much as humanly possible. Which is why I don’t own any RPG’s for Xbox.

However, I will almost certainly break down for Ninja Gaiden Black, which looks like ridiculous fun.

  4. What was the book, and what made you decide not to get it?

    • I second this inquiry.

    • It’s Under Plum Lake by Lionel Davidson. I chose not to purchase it for myself because
      A) if I’m going to buy it, I want to buy it as a gift for someone else’s child. There are a few that come to mind that are still counted in months instead of years. Also,
      B) My first copy was a gift from my grandmother, as my first “real” book, and if I get a second copy, I would prefer it to also be a gift. I don’t know how to explain it, but it is one of those things that just feels right as given from one person to another. Since it is so inexpensive, it seems like an ideal thing to mention when I’m asked about my christmas/birthday list.

      • Interesting. I don’t think it’d do squat in the way of a fun motorcycle (being essentially battery driven), but I’m really glad the technology is getting out there more.

  5. He’s the Greatest!
    He’s Fantastic!

Wherever there is Danger, he’ll be there

    He’s the Ace
    He’s Amazing

He’s the Strongest, he’s the quickest, he’s the best

    Danger Mouse
    Danger Mouse
    Danger Mouse!

(done completely from memory….how far off am I?)
