Karaoke, carving tools, photography, and job responsibilities

Firstly, happy birthday, Rob! :)

Tomorrow, I meet up with Benny at the Chef, once I can free myself from the confines of work.

Axon has a potential of 3 clients right now. One has promised they want us and will pay us, another is looking for some trade (which will work), and the third is just talk right now. This is good pacing, for us. Our ducks are more or less in a row, other than the competition and finance portion of the business plan.

Thursday’s another meeting for the Broadcast Club. Which I’m still helping with. Even though I graduated. Mostly, I do it because Adam and Tina dropped off the face of the earth when they graduated, and I don’t want to do that to people.

FRIDAY IS KARAOKE. The Ground Round in Livonia at 6 and I-275, just south of the Livonia Mall. I’ll probably get there sort of early, as they tend to get a bit packed. Fun times, I promise. I don’t do karaoke often, so this is your chance to hear me croon!

I don’t know when I’ll get the chance to write about Katrina’s wedding, I have pages and pages of things to say, and that’s not an exaggeration. I don’t know if anyone wants to read it, but it was definitely good for me.

I bought carving tools for my staff. I should have bummed a few other pieces of wood for practicing, since I should get a little comfortable with the new instruments, rather than attacking it right away.

I can’t wait to do prints of the 36-exposure B/W roll I took at Katrina’s wedding. I can’t wait to do prints in general. :) “Someday, my prints will come!”

Oh, and I wanted more than 15 icons, so I splurged. So there.

I’ve been really pleased with my diet (and I mean that as in “what I eat”, not “special restrictions”) lately. Even at a free wedding buffet. I’ve been taking my lunch to work instead of eating at the craptacular deli that butters EVERYTHING. My physical activity’s way up. I don’t think I mentioned to anyone that, about a month ago, I weighed the most I’ve ever weighed, but the difference now is quite pleasing. Again, I’m not making any promises to myself that I can’t or won’t want to keep, I’m just making better decisions.

My boss gave me a written proposal, if you will, of my solidified responsibilities at work. He says it’s essentially the same things I’ve been doing thus far, but I know the difference. I will be responsible for all of the web production for Automotive News, Automotive News Europe, all support for AutomobilWoche, all email-based AN/ANE support, all email blasts (breaking news) which come about once a day, the final page-one work that happens Friday evening, as well as my usual total control over the graphics. He’s working on the new site, and that’s going to obsess him for awhile, but the only thing I won’t be handling is anything editorial. Yes, it would be nice if a raise came with this, but no. Not even close. And yes, it’s a hell of a kick to the ol’ resume. Of course, if I end up not getting another job and just working on Axon, what does it matter?

    “She kissed me!”

Anytime, sweetie. Seriously. You can call or AIM whenever you like.

  2. I’ve been really pleased with my diet…

ditto the whole paragraph. every single sentence. it’s been five weeks, i’ve lost fifteen pounds, and i’m astounded with how easy and cool it is.

    • Rock on. Congratulations. :) It’s like belonging to a group that knows how to live their life successfully, or something.

      • well, no. not really at all. i’ve got a ways to go before “successful living”. and i don’t look any different, or feel any different. not even at all. but my blood pressure is in exactly the perfect range, and i am a lot less anemic and being healthier is freaking sweet even if nothing else is different.

        • I think, at least for me, it’s a lot more about process than about being able to declare myself healthy. Living successfully in this context is much like sustainable energy policy – we work with what we have.

Yes, that means you have another policy. :)

  3. Thanks, it’s been a great day!
