*dies* I’d put it under love/lust, if I wasn’t trying to keep my tags straight.
PS thanks for the link, raggedrobin
dat is soo cooool!
Think so? It’s big for a PDA, overpowered for being just a media device (pictures, video, music), and (depending on your needs, of course) underpowered for a laptop/desktop replacement. The battery will run down well before dedicated devices (i.e., portable DVD players). The keyboard is too small for serious typing, but the form factor is too big to be a general purpose email device that you’d take everywhere. It’s already a little bigger than the PDA that’s filling my pocket. Unless they’ve worked some magic with the display, it won’t be optimized for the small size, the way all PDA’s have to be. It’s a nice computer, but can it really do everthing?
I do not expect I will ever be able to purchase one I have a paper planner, but no PDA. However, it screams potential. The point is, even if it is a “celeron” version of a desktop computer, it is stepping closer to the death of the desktop computer and the true birth of flexible, mobile computing.
It’s a general purpose desktop replacement PDA. 500 megs or RAM is sufficient for anything but games or graphics applications. Also, XP already incorporates a number of features to allow font sizing adjustments.
Hell, I like the darn thing because it’s one more step closer to a tricorder, and that means that transporters aren’t that far off.
……
Yeah, I’m a geek. So what? :)
If I was a “money is no object” guy I’d get one… heck, it’d run my copy of Office and play mp3s, and that’s enough. Using a wifi/bluetooth keyboard would get rid of the only interface quibble I’d have; the only unanswered one is battery life.
— Steve’d love to have one, but it’s so not in the budget.
you’re right, that *is* kind of sexy. :)
OQO 01+
Nice surprise OQO.
We were all waiting for OQO model 02 but the new OQO Model 01 is certainly a PLUS :)
