Welcome to no-bullshit Wednesday!
Firstly:
If you’re in the midst of “culling your LJ flock”, don’t make a post about it unless there is a reason. For example, I totally understand Trasenstine’s last post to that effect. But don’t put me and the rest of your friends under the gun. Making your close friends scramble to see if they’ve “made the cut” isn’t nice. What would I do? I’d just take people off your list who don’t seem to connect with me, or who never comment, or whatever, and if they emailed me asking why, I’d write that courteous response to them, personally. Yes, that means you have to actually face that person you don’t care to read about anymore. Confrontation is good for the soul, buddy. (and no, I haven’t “culled the flock”. I generally don’t find the need.)
… and yes, I am quite aware that it is possible someone on my friend’s list might see this as a personal affront, and say “fuck you” by taking me off their list. Does childish behavior upset me? No, it’s from a child, not an adult, and I’m better off without the sort of person who would use LJ as a tool to be petulant. I wouldn’t believe it, I’d like to think I’ve got quality people out there, but it has happened before.
I’ve been removed in that way in the past, and when it surprised me, I commented, and found out someone thought my posts were too long and boring. *smiles and shrugs* They’re probably right.
Speaking of passive-aggressive, Second:
I may dislike passive-aggressive bullshit, but nothing pisses me off more than threats to people I love. Shit or get off the pot, but don’t threaten. Do I ever post about the things I could do to someone, whatever they’ve done to me? No, because it’s childish, weak, and like handing someone a psychological handbook to your weaknesses and your personal pathology.
I know every time someone has threatened me in my adult life, the first thought in my head isn’t fear, it’s “I know you, and far better now than you’d ever want.”
I try not to get involved only because the people I love are capable adults who can handle their own dirty laundry, and because I don’t threaten. Let me say this, though: If you and my buddy get in a fist-fight or screaming match, that’s your business together, but if you bully my friend, you will never break through the ceiling of my good will. Call it my personal vendetta against Keith Yanachek from 2nd grade. My respect for you is z-e-r-o.
Threats aren’t passive-agressive, they’re active-aggressive. Passive-aggressive is nonconfrontational by definition.
Yes, that is my point. “I may dislike passive-aggressive bullshit, but nothing pisses me off more than threats to people I love.” Thus separating the two.
Unrelatedly: my boss gave me his old fold-out keyboard which works perfectly for my snazzy PDA. :) Which I use to keep track of everything. And to play Sudoku.
Threats can be passive-agressive, like if you tell Y what you’re gonna do to X with the expectation that Y will take it back to X directly or via A, B and C. No confrontation, greater annoyance for all involved, and alphabet soup!
mmmmm soup
OK. Stipulated.
Can’t leave a replies on LJ (yet!), but glad you’re enjoying it. From whence came the Sudoku game? I don’t have that!
I don’t recall, I downloaded it. Either google sudoku.prc or IM me when I am at home (after 6), and I will send it to you. :)
….drama queens suck ass….if you want attention, you’ll get more on a murderous ramage than you will by being snotty on LJ….IMO that is.
*grins* … in your personal experience. I mean, er, theoretically.
I could tell you….but…
dammit, that is how the last one started…..
ooops
;)
Keith Yanachek? holy shit. i remember that guy! *goes tearing thru old stuff, looking for elementary school year book… curses! i can’t find it!! :P)
(i don’t recall what he was like tho)
Can’t be the same guy, could it?
He was a thug. Wouldn’t leave me alone until my mom threatened him with painful doom. Seriously.
maybe i knew him when he was in another grade. what elementary and middle school did you go to?
Oakbrook and Dresden Elementary. Middle school was in a different area of MI
weird. i swear i remember a kid that went by that name. hs maybe? i went to north farmington.
So did I. If he went there, that’d be disturbing.
whoa.
my senior yearbook, 1993. keith yanachik, in my class. (he’s referenced5 times in the index.)
you, a sophomore at the time. pg.177. unless that’s another scott kennedy, my, you’ve changed ;D
wholysheet.
random note: opposite page from where your soph pic is: bushra alshabi, the bitch who tormentted my sister and i on the bus. good gods i disliked that chick.
crushes of mine from high school: from your grade-blake began, his brother ryan (a freshman), and my sister’s friends mickey d’loughy and mike hipke (my sister was a freshman when i was a senior).
one of my friends from art class was dennis firment. our table of four was always getting in trouble for talking and having a good time while drawing (stupid mr. case and his “you can’t do two things well at once…”).
*laugh* Dennis is the brother of my good buddy Chuck Firment ().
i thought i heard you mention chuck before, but i wasn’t sure if it was the same guy ;)
it was problably another name :)
I always post before I do a defriending. If it were me, I would want to know in advance that a defriending was taking place, you see. Being defriended out of the blue is a little sadder…to me, at least. :)
