Belly-Dancing photography with Ari and Molly, plus my days in general.

So, instead, I’ll post a link to the belly-dancing photography. NOTE: Only 4 of these are color-corrected. Plenty of work left to do.

I’m really just using this space to say that most of today has been the bee’s knees. Most of this weekend could be said to also be the bee’s knees. I spent quality time with so many great people, I don’t know where to start, so I’ll leave it at that.

  1. Nice, from the non moveing pictures, im guessing a bit of the tribal style with a modest helping of modern interpratations.

    yeah, i dated a bellydancer for a year and a half…

  2. I can’t thank you enough for taking such wonderful pictures, and for all the hard work you’re putting in to make me look beautiful! The results are amazing!

  3. Nice pictures, but why is the color so far off? I know you’re not using that camera with scratched lens cover any more. What did you use?

    • It’s a borrowed Pentax dSLR. Color, specifically, was provided by the studio (as in, dance studio) lights and some correcting whitebalance on the camera, but the huge lighting variation had much more to do with the struggle I was having with getting the camera to play nice with the external flash – the flash way overcomensated, much of the time, even at 90 degrees, which is partly because every wall was a mirror. It was very frustrating, but I played with settings throughout the entire shoot.

      • Heh. I bet the mirrors were trouble, alright. Someone suggested this to me at DragonCon; try it:

Get a plastic bottle of rubbing alcohol, and cut the top off to fit the top of the external flash. The plastic bottle will diffuse the flash and lengthen the flash exposure time. I made one of these over the weekend. It’s a nice effect for such a cheap “filter.”

  4. Wow!

These are fabulous pictures. I’ve always enjoyed watching dancers of this type and these women have the perfect shape for the activity. Pleasing and alluring, not harsh and hard edged. Thanks to you, and them, for such a beautiful display. Love to see them after correction.

  5. Absolutely stunning.

Of course, the pictures aren’t half bad, either. :grins:

  6. Scott, this is absolutely beautiful!!!! I love the color, the light, and the movement. Let me know if you ever want to show in the gallery. http://www.fuentesgallery.com

  7. Truly gorgeous pictures, Skennedy. I agree, you’ve definitely captured the grace and beauty of these two lovely women. Kudos!

  8. awesomeville!

  9. I just friended you. Stop by my blog. It’ll be worth your while.

Plus I’m curious to know the origin of your user name.

    • Huh :) Worth my while, hm? *grin* How so?

My LJ name is an amalgam of ATDT, a modem command that stands for “ATtention, Dial Tone”, and the first year I used one, 1991.

I wanted ATDT911 when I selected that hotmail address, ten years ago. It was taken already.
