Soon I’m gonna be a Jedi
Every time I hear this song, I think of ConFusion, and one of the few times I spent Dead Dog day (the sunday after) in the Con Suite. This particular year, it was completely full, and we all sang, a capella. It was so, so very Con, a mix of ordinary american culture and our own brand of total geek. It was such a peculiarly touching moment of bonding. Much like the eating of Haggis (thank you again, Chuck, you delicious bastard).
And in the end some Gunguns died
Some ships blew up and some pilots fried
A lot of folks were croakin’
The battle droids were broken
And the Jedi I admire most
Met up with Darth Maul and now he’s toast
Well, I’m still here and he’s a ghost
I guess I’ll train this boy
Some ships blew up and some pilots fried
A lot of folks were croakin’
The battle droids were broken
And the Jedi I admire most
Met up with Darth Maul and now he’s toast
Well, I’m still here and he’s a ghost
I guess I’ll train this boy
And I was singin’ …
My my this here Anakin guy
May be Vader someday later – now he’s just a small fry
And he left his home and kissed his mommy goodbye
Sayin’ “Soon I’m gonna be a Jedi”
“Soon I’m gonna be a Jedi”
You ATE haggis?!
Certainly. While I don’t go around tasting all the nasty food the world has to offer, I considered it a rare chance to experience something new.
Technically, it wasn’t completely authentic haggis, because the united states considers some things (like lung) to be unfit for human consumption. However, it was otherwise accurate, boiled to “perfection”, and scooped up on small pieces of bread.
Frankly, it wasn’t as bad as it is made out to be. Not that I would eat it on a regular basis. Of course, it does help that the guy serving it was in a kilt.
I missed out on this but it must have been fun. :) Next year I might dress as a Jedi. Haven’t decided yet.
I should specify that I mean “The year we’re speaking of now” and not “THIS year” :) It was a good 4 years ago, I think.
A long long time ago
IN a galaxy far away
Naboo was under an attack….
I love this song!! heheheheh
It has been SO long since I have been to a Con. *sigh* I ought to search and see what I can find down this way!
HAGGIS IS ICKYICKYICKY!!!! BLECH!!
:) Penguicon is happening in a few months, here. :)
Speaking of music…
Has the CD I sent arrived?
Yes it has! I’ve listened to it, too, and I was much impressed with some -very- interesting music. There was a particular artist (I don’t recall offhand) that I didn’t much care for due to a sort of repetition and just not being into their tone of voice, but everything else was really worth listening to. My CD’s will go out when I get a moment to lay my music out. *s*
now I am curious as to who that might have been…I can’t recall exactly which artists/albums I sent.
I can’t wait to listen to yours.

The haggis was a lot more fun than I expected. I’m like you though: I don’t like to do things halfway. It was a great time *because* it was overdone to the hilt. Piped in with a bagpiper and full procession. Presented on a silver platter. Served with a 16 year old single malt scotch. And of course, “Ode to a Haggis”, by Robert Burns.
It was better tasting than I feared. Almost worse, I liked it. :)
Indeed, it makes one afraid for oneself, that one might…. even try it again.
