Wow. What a great week for meeting old friends!
A few days ago, jupiters_angel and I finally got a chance to hang out, and share some of the fantabulous dipping sauce of Alcamos. Between that and dropping her grandmother off in ye olde wyandotte, it really brought back the fun of old times. Then, of course, there was Howard the Duck and the Yule Log. My braiiin…
This evening, K.T. and I met up at the Magic Bag, and who should be there but Ann and Erik! It was nice to get me some Ann hugs, the transportation issues really cramp our hang-out style.
While paying my bill *grumbles about 15 dollar minimum*, I hear K.T. go “Eli?”, quietly. I start to turn and shout out “Elissa??” before I even see who it is, and BAM! There is mah sweetheart! She’s there with her boyfriend, and though we’re all tired, her JUMPING UP and DOWN and shouting and hugging inspire energy within us, so we hop down to The Post for a drink before heading home.
It’s worth the chronic lack of sleep, for sure. We shared some incredible stories from ten years ago – I never thought of myself as a wild child (perhaps because I could always compare myself to those who were far wilder), but I definitely had my share of crazy shenanigans. Some … less legal than others. We talked about how necessary it is for people to go through their wild period in order to move on in their life, in order to really understand why you can’t live like that all the time. Life is precious, and the partying becomes meaningless pretty damned fast.
Anyway, she wrapped herself around my neck and wouldn’t let go (even when I spun her about, hands-free) until I promised I’d go to Pizza House with her again so she could order the Pizza of Doom (seriously, there were like 9 toppings on this fucker).
So… sometime this coming up week, I will probably be doing that, before she heads back to MD.
Also, I’m considering having another birthday party this year, perhaps the weekend of the 28th. Last year’s experience at Leo’s was great fun. What say you? Perhaps initial hanging out at my apartment for those who’d like to see where I live, and then a trip down to Leo’s? I’ll be 29 this year, so there’s lots of opportunity for people to make fun of my impending Life Change. I’m kind of a spoil-sport, though; I don’t really go through any more crisis at the Age Markers than I do any other time. ;)

You know I’d love too, but I’ve got a big nap coming up that weekend :)
Yule Log!!! :)
