Awesome covetous technology stuffs
This is the hottest thing since … no, ever. It’s the hottest thing
ever.
(I might be convinced to change my mind.)
The other thing I’ve been drooling over today was an article about
eyeglass lenses fit to a guy’s bridge
piercing. By itself, it’s just fucking cool. Add in a heads-up
display, and I might need a towel.

That HDR shot is… just… amazing. Whoa.
— Steve wants to take photos just like that when he grows up.
That photo is fantastic. How exactly was it taken (tech wise), that makes it stand out and has you covetous?
In order to take a High Dynamic Range photo, one first photographs something at three different exposures (although you can use many more if you’d like), and then combine them in a program like Photoshop (though, again, there are others equally good). It has settings specifically for HDR photos.
It then makes the best picture possible out of them, taking into account a much more realistic range of light qualities than our cameras can produce in one photo.
In fact, it is, likely, more realistic than our own eyes can interpret, though I couldn’t say for sure.
So, the tech is in the software? Could I, with my Digital Rebel XTi, theoretically do that sort of thing?
Absolutely. Use a tripod.
One day, the technology may exist in cameras, to actually take HDR photos and have it work them together on its own. Not today, though.
I covet having a reasonably complex but simple to operate digital camera again, and I covet taking pictures at such an amazing locale.
was good to see you this weekend. :)
It was delightful, yes! I had much fun :)
20 years ago, this is how we always expected cities of the future to look.
It’s like a video game
Chiba City, here we come!
I would get a bridge piercing JUST to have those glasses!!! THAT IS GREAT!!!
