Helluvaday

No sushi today, just cold cuts, salad, pasta, etc.

I was totally busy. I really can’t wait to take a shower, but I’m hungry and totally wiped out, all the same. Alas, bed doesn’t come with cuddles pre-installed, and besides it’s cold as all hell, so it isn’t drawing me to it like it otherwise might. In my fantasy world.

I had some thoughts for you, but they’ve escaped me.

I was at the Firehouse (bar/restaurant) last night. I was told Kid Rock and Damon Wayans were there, but I can’t find photos to confirm – I’ll check tomorrow from work. Free burgers and drinks (I had a jack n coke) on Dieter Z.

McVities “digistives” with chocolate are the bombity bomb, but their name is just so hilarious, I can’t even stand it. Those wacky brits!

I finally finished my download of Software for Starving Students. It is an AWESOME group of freeware apps. They have a version for mac and a version for PC – if you want either, come over with a blank disk, invite me over with a blank disk, or spend a week trying to download it like I did.

Some of the apps:
Freeciv, a highly regarded free version of Civilization. Yes, it’s internettable and has a highly regarded AI system.
Also, GIMPshop – GIMP is a free photoshop-like took, and GIMPshop actually adjusts each dialogue box so that the options are in exactly the place photoshop users would expect them.
Also, microtorrent (aka uTorrent), the smallest p2p file-sharing app ever.
Also OpenOffice, the free version of MS Office. So, yeah, good stuff.

OH that reminds me. Does anyone (local) have a place I might crash at on Wednesday night? I guess they’re “glazing” an apartment (better than lazing it, I guess), and it is rumoured that the smell could be … overpowering. So, if I come home and get bowled over, I’d like to know there’s some place I could rest me head for an evening. :)

  1. OMFG, I love the chocolate-covered McV’s digestives. Those fuckers are among the many things I miss from Ireland. They’ve got some that have a layer of caramel between the biscuit and the chocolate, and they’re so very very tasty.

  2. GIMPshop

Praise Jesus! My prayers have been answered!

  3. You’re always welcome at my place. Plus, drive time to work is greatly reduced! Let me know if you need it, so I can clear some stuff out of the guest room before yoga tonight. Don’t worry, it’s all stuff I was planning on doing anyway, so you wouldn’t be putting me out at all.

  4. you are welcome to crash at my place (southwest detroit, about 15 min drive from yer work).

  5. We should add Second Life to that, so creative techie starving student types could make some extra cash…
