katamawii? Say it’s so!

“While there’s still no official, announcement-style confirmation that Beautiful Katamari is coming to the Wii, we’re tentatively jumping up and down with glee around the Wii Fanboy offices. The rumors have been glomming together into a beautiful, spherical whole, we’re almost convinced that the King of All Cosmos will be decrying our lack of rolling skill this winter.

Several sites are reporting that references to the Wii title are popping up everywhere — most recently on GameFly, showing a release date in November. …On the Katamari front, however, and we must stress this “however” quite strongly — this latest”confirmation” could simply be a matter of GameFly picking up other rumors. We’ve seen retail slip-ups and placeholders spawn rumors before, and they often come to naught. But with so much buzz around it, we hope to hear something one way or another from Namco on the possibility of a Wii Katamari title. Creator Keita Takahashi hasn’t hesitated to speak up before … but perhaps the smashing success of the Wii has changed af ew minds? We’ll keep you posted.”

  1. i love katamari!

  2. Well, since Creator Takahashi won’t have anything to do with it, his silence is not that meaningful.

  3. Irrelevant to entry content…oh well
I just about fell out of my chair when I looked at your profile (was going to find an email to send what I got out of a Marriott staffer) and noticed that you live in he next ville over (I’m in Canton!).
Well…regarding Penguicon, try calling the Sales office this morning after 8 AM. If they tell you that the entire hotel is sold out (not just the Penguicon block), they’re lying (boy am I glad that I work in a hotel and I know which questions to ask). The normal rate isn’t much higher than the group rate anyway (even though the door-inserts make it look scary – those things are NEVER accurate).

    • *nods* 5 and Haggerty. :)

I’ve been told those door inserts are listed at the -maximum- possible billed rate, which I presume is due to a law that requires them to display their rate in the room and not charge more than that rate.

I’ve put their local # in my cell, so I’ll call tomorrow when I get to work. Thanks for the lowdown!

      • no problem ^_^

Joy and Haggerty (near 275) here!

Yeah, the story you’ve been told about door inserts is pretty much that – a bit higher than prime time, in-season rates on the most expensive room in the house (they’re not going to print cards for EVERY individual rate) with all amenities and at-check-in add-ons. I think the ones here come to a little over $100 and the most we’d charge (with all of those) is something like $85 after tax (and that’s the best room in the house, on a busy weekend in July).

I didn’t bother with the toll free #
I don’t know if it’ll make any difference or mean you talk to a different person but, through the person I spoke with (who was on duty, in the Marriott), I found out that only the Sales Office knows about “special rates” and groups…I guess they’re 4 times the size of the hotel I’m in so they need more people to fret about that or something? Anyway, be sure your call gets routed to the Sales Office as no one else will have any idea what you’re talking about (they’ll be able to tell you what rooms are available but they can’t book them for you).
It scares me that I could probably manage any of their departments as effectively if not more than whoever is currently doing it.
