Anyone else out there pick up Metroid? When I went under “extras” and looked at my list, I didn’t see anyone ‘bolded’. (and what a place to put it under, “extras!”)
I put in maybe two hours so far, but I’ve definitely enjoyed it. I need to get better at holding the remote steady, I think. There’s something about “open targeting” that I find annoying – I can target someone and still find that I’m firing off into the distance, so I may turn it off when I’m not going for boss fights.
I’m scanning -everything-, more or less. Lots of side info to be had.
The intro scene kind of reminded me of BSG.

Picked it up, done a TON of scanning. I know I got my 200 kills badge. I have a good feeling about this one.
Dude, we need to do whatever friend exchange thinger there is, yeah? Go into your extras and turn it on!
I only had a couple of hours to play, and I went -very- slowly, scanning everything, basically, so I’ve only got 100 kills, and I just got to the surface. I canna wait to play more!
I’ve sent a friend code thinger, and have actually bought some of the extras. I’d say hold your chips until you find something that you REALLY want.
I’ve been busy lately, no time to play, so I still don’t have enough creds to get anything – I sent you a friend voucher late last night, as well.
Do you have the “show other people I have metroid” option turned on, just underneath the Friend Voucher area?
Yeah. Kinda odd that it doesn’t seem to be working.
Yeah. Kinda odd that it doesn’t seem to be working.
I’m trying to snag it, not for myself, but for James. It looks cool, but I have video-game epilepsy and cannot handle first-person shooters without getting sick.
There are two ways to play this game – one involves the rapid movement of the screen, and the other (the default setting) is much more palatable to people who get disoriented easily.
With a couple of minutes to get familiar with the way the controls work, you may find it’s okay.
Good luck picking it up, I didn’t have any trouble. HEY, do I have your wii code? I don’t recall.
Went to Meijer, Target, and Gamestop…couldn’t find it. Ended up ordering it from Amazon, and it should arrive sometime in the middle of freaking September. *grumble* Anyway, I doubt either setting will work out with me as I haven’t been able to handle any RPGs or first-person shooters since Doom. The first one.
Ugh, yeah, I heard about Amazon’s delay, I’m sorry to hear it.
I hear what you’re saying, and I hate to say something wiifanboy esque about the controls, but objectively speaking, there is a -real, actual difference- in being able to move the aiming reticule -without- moving your actual point of view. There haven’t been any FPS games that have used this type of control that I’m aware of, so… well, you’ll see one way or another, though now I’m interested, so please let me know whether it makes you hurl or not. :D
(No sending me your hurl in a box, that’s not fair)
Well, actually, I have used the Wii controls on a similar game. I really really really really really wanted to play Elebits because it looked so good (and it was!) but I held out for about an hour before collapsing with a freaking migraine. It’s very first-person-shooteresque in design, and I thought that the Wii control might change things, but alas, it didn’t.
Mmm, that’s a good point.
G got it for his birthday. We found it at the second GameStop; they expected to be out of stock later that day. Target, Meijer, and the first GameStop all said they hadn’t received their shipment. (Maybe the west side of A2 has been blacklisted?)
Anyhow, that was yesterday morning, and he’s only stopped playing when we forced him to. I have no idea what level he’s at, or if we’ve allowed him to access the internet while playing. Maybe during dinner I’ll ask for stats.
Maybe you should friend me back on the Wii even if I don’t have Metroid yet. :P
argh! send me your mii code, stat!
Wii code for you!
*hugs and loves*
I’m very excited about this game, as I just finished Metroid Prime 2 about two weeks ago.
However, I’ve yet to nab it. Darn. :/
