Anyone have a shuffle?

I’ve thought, since I first got my shuffle, that it seems kind of “flat”. Specifically in the highs.

This is the same music I listen to on my laptop, so it isn’t the encoding – I think it’s actually the shuffle’s decoding.

I don’t know whether this is a fault of my particular shuffle, or if it’s the price of an inexpensive product. Anyone else with a halfway-discerning ear have a shuffle, and have you noticed anything like this?

What I’d really like is to compare music on mine with someone else’s shuffle and see if they sound different.

I was so frustrated with my capturing errors last night that I went to bed early. Like, way early. I think it was a good idea – I got plenty of asleep, and I feel ready to problem-solve and do inspired things.

Daylight waits to shine until
the moment you awaken
So you never miss the dawn
No question now,
you know which road you’re taking
Lights all green, the radio
plays just the perfect song

  1. i have heard of this before ….have you tried better earphones?

    • Problem is A) my ear plugs (Koss’s The Plug) are pretty nice on their own, with a good range, and B) I’ve used these on my laptop without noticing poor highs.

      • I figured you would have nicer headphones…i did remeber reading about how the shuffle clips quailty to get more information..something about not being able to use it with high end equipent…in fact it might be NPR where i heard it

  2. Cat has a shuffle, you can listen to hers and see

  3. The stick or the clip?

The stick (which I have) has a great audio quality (better than the fill size iPods) but I don’t know about the clip version.

  4. I enjoyed my shuffle’s sound. But then I had to get new earphones and I cheaped out. Now my sound quality is not as good because my earphones suck. But with the old ones, I thought it sounded great.
