I hope you’re ready for fall

On our way up to Gaylord last weekend, childe pointed out that the leaves were just beginning to change.

Today is the first day since spring that I can recall using a little heat in my car. I expect autumn to come fast and shine brightly, this year. If not, I have a plan.

In fact, I look out the window here at work and it seems to me that various trees are already starting to differentiate themselves with little touches of orange or yellow.

There was an incredible downpour last night for about ten minutes. I took a few pictures of the lamppost shining through the pouring rain.

  1. When I went to the UP 2.5 weeks ago I was amazed at the amount of color. I think because it’s been so dry up there.

I have seen a couple of trees with just a touch of color around town too. Autumn is my favorite season, but it seems odd that it’s starting this early.

    I hope so! :)

  3. I miss you!

  4. We’ve had a lot more colour than I expected out here, too. Since people tromp over to New England to look at our pretty trees, some of that is to be expected but I really do hope that we’ll have a good autumn this year.

Also, your rain is now raining on me. Huge bloody downpour, been going on for over an hour.

  5. Yeah, I noticed how chilly it was this morning, and it doesn’t look to be warming up in the next few days.

Kind of makes me wish I didn’t wear shorts!

  6. gaylord.. will never get over that name.

You know any places to get away from light pollution and see the stars in teh metro area?

    • That’s kind of an inherent paradox. Metro Detroit creates the light pollution – the further you get from the city center, the better it gets.

      • Except for the fact that there are probably places within metro detroit that are void of street lights for a half a mile squared.

        • Is that all it takes to get rid of light pollution? Seems to me that there’s a hell of a big difference between looking up at the sky in Pinckney and Oscoda.

  7. i used the heat in the jeep this morning for the first time since spring too!

  8. your plan is german art?

    • Yep! With german art, people won’t even notice that autumn sucks.

Well, actually, it’s a postcard from 1901 about what it will be like in the year 2000, and that is a weather generator.
