On another grim note:
Fogo doesn’t have lunch on Saturday. Or Sunday. Only dinner, which is fifty freakin’ dollars.
We’re considering Tappas instead, but I would only be more bummed if I didn’t have 18 of my favorite people seeing me to 30 in Chicago.

Was there a stage at which we didn’t expect dinner to cost that much? because if there was I missed it.
I mean. Tapas are ok but $50 for dinner is ok by me too.
We were going to Fogos for Lunch previously, and it was $35 bucks.
Some people may be counting on it being 35, I don’t know. I’d like to see what other people who are going think about that. It is one of my favorite experiences, for sure, but this is a group outing.
I gotta say that $50 for dinner wasn’t in the memo I received, but if thats instead of a $35 lunch, I’m cool with it. If Fogos for dinner becomes the plan, perhaps just fast food lunch or I might bring a sammich in my bag.
I hope I’m not too much of a financial downer. I just have to live within the means that I’ve been given charge of.
No, I think most people are going to agree. It makes me pale, too.
We weren’t doing anything on Sunday except traveling, were we? If so, remind me what it was we had planned, please.
I don’t know, it depends on how late we get up. We’re not going to be on the train until 3, so I’m sure there’ll be eating in there somewhere.
I’m putting the kaibosh on anything majorly expensive (I don’t want to go up the tower, for instance). The play I like to go to is anywhere from 7 to 13 bucks, for instance, depending on how you roll a die.
I suspected this anyway, but you must make WAY more than I do! ;)
*shrug* among other things, I don’t generally drink anything but water when I go out. And I don’t go out much, I usually cook. So I save a lot that way. Actually, since I stopped having a software engineer husband I ought to be watching my money much more closely but I haven’t adjusted yet. Also laid off at the end of this month. Still haven’t adjusted to that either.
I’ll figure it out in a couple years I guess.
If you need help finding a place to eat, don’t hesitate to tap me. We took you to Babareeba, but if you’re looking for a little less chain-y, Cafe Iberico is good as well. Do NOT go to Cafe Barcelona in Evanston. Not evenly remotely close to worth the cost.
Sweet! If we don’t end up going to Fogos anyway, I’ll definitely be looking for something close to the hotel – getting 18 people around without private transportation is a hassle!
It’s a dang shame (in this context) that you guys moved, I’d love to have you as a part of SkennCon.
If it’s a $50 dinner, but a cheap lunch/breakfast – I could prolly manage that. I want to know what all this Fogo hype is about!
I maintain we should hit Reza’s for brunch on Sunday. :)
AND I WILL NOT STOP TALKING ABOUT IT UNTIL THERE ARE OTHER DEFINITE PLANS! Take THAT, sicko! :)
Feeling better yet, BTW?
No, doctor’s appt’s tomorrow. I feel better when I’m not talking aloud, though.
I’m doing alright, with frequent tea infusions. Today I’ve only had maybe 2 halls, instead of the dozen or more yesterday. I can’t say, though, that it means I’m getting better, just managing more with tea. *s*
Fogo de Chão is sooo good though!

^worth a browse for restaurant discounts. Alas, no Fogo! Might be worth it to see what the minimum number of guests that would open the restaurant for a private occasion…
Have I expressed my willingness to pick up takeout from, say, Trotter’s to Go (the take-out branch of one of the nation’s finest restaurants)? Also worth considering is a fondue-in at Vosges haut chocolate (do they have Vosges in MI? I’d think about it, but thinking too hard about Vosges leads me to a best-left-private reverie), brunch at Lou Mitchell’s (or M Henry! the hopeful-but-overly-optimistic northsider squeaked), or the distinctively Chicagoan pan pizza or Chicago-style hot dogs. I favor the latter, given that it reflects the birthday boy, soundijng completely crazy but turning out to be just delicious…
And yes, that Turkish restaurant Brandon keeps mentioning is aces…
BRENDAN! I meant BRENDAN! DAMMIT! (Please don’t smack me! Look! Sexy icon!)
I feel honor-bound to tell you that you can edit your comments now, as long as no one has replied to them. Alas, I’d replied. :)
*grin* Thanks. That’s a lot of choices!
