RIP Athena
Last night, I reached out to my mouse as I sat down at my sweet, sweet laptop, felt a small shock, and watched Athena die.
Now, if I press power, the green light flashes rapidly for as long as I hold it down, and it is otherwise dead as a doornail. Using battery or plugged power doesn’t make a difference, so either the MB or CPU are toast.
Of course, it’s just over 3 years old, and so just outside of the extended warrany.
I hope to spend a little time today researching the cost of a replacement MB, because this is otherwise an excellent laptop – 17″, 1920×1200… The only things out of date (HD, RAM) are easily upgradeable. If it costs more than a few hundred dollars to replace the hardware, though… I may have to start thinking about a new computer.
*sadness*
Doesn’t change much about my internet access – I still have my work laptop, which I bring home every night. Thank pete that I picked up an external hard drive a month or so ago and copied everything of consequence onto it.
*mourns*

I’m so sorry for your loss.
Heh, you know!

Awww. *hugs* My condolences on your loss.

I’m sorry. And I shouldn’t read first thing in the morning as I was seriously convinced that you had a mouse named Athena who died in your hand, this morning, and I didn’t know you raised mice.
*chuckle* I do not, but Lucy loves ratties – she has one, and two of her vet friends have two more, which they all keep together.
