Penguicon Love

After Vegas, I stayed up all night trying to reload my laptop in prep for Penguicon – it was a big bag of FAIL, and I had to start it over on Friday. I also missed the InstallFest – good news though, I did get an official Ubuntu CD for installation on my own time. Anyone wanna come help*?

Fortunately, I convinced the boss that it was best I work from home, which meant I could catch a little nap here and there so I wouldn’t be shit on toast at Pcon. Instead, I actually found myself on the grounds before 5pm, something totally unprecedented in the past three years!

I couldn’t make it five feet without running into someone worthy of a big tackle hug. It took me ten minutes just to get to the front desk and check into my room.

I met up with Clan Bradakis and we were thick as thieves** for the rest of the con. I hit up a panel and watched The Tesla Coil experiment outside, but otherwise abandoned all pretense of Officially Sanctioned Behavior. There was dogpiling and The Open Source Boob project, and I finally met yakavenger, blazepoet, yuki_onna and justbeast for the first time ever. Lucy arrived, so the party could begin in earnest.

Okay, this method will take me forever. Let’s try something different!

During the convention, I drank well-aged scotch, passed out ribbons, received ribbons, snacked, cuddled, groped, stood up in a wedding, healed others, had crazy monkeysex, had lunch with friends, was on a panel for flirting, met at least three really awesome comic artists, got a panel signed “HIGH ADVENTURE!” by the creator of xkcd, did more cuddling, saw dozens of very attractive women in lingerie, saw two very attractive men in A) chaps+bananahammock*** and B) sheer panties, wandered, stayed up until 5 am, drank loads of caffeine, snuggled, cuddled some more, and generally felt well loved by friends old and new. Also felt up by old friends and new, and that’s pretty okay, too.

This evening, I was at BW3’s with Lucy, KT, Adrienne and Carrie, and I had to remind myself that I was very definitely no longer at con. Spanking and blatant ribaldry were no longer par for the course. Damn it.

Thanks to (among the people listed above) plasmonicgrid, wookiee71, realmjit, rbradakis, sheryl67, kitschicat, speedygeo, aiela, davehogg, fortuna_juvat, bardicwench, brendand, earthenwood (and Chuck!), theferrett, zoethe, twoofdtm and the dozens of other people I saw only briefly – you make it such a special, fun, sexy, life-affirming weekend for me. I’ll keep coming as long as you do, deal?

Tonight, lucy and I saw Forbidden Kingdom with the girls (totally worthwhile) and now we’re sitting on my couch, laptop facing laptop. Every so often I look over top my Dell and see her big brown eyes shining into her Dell and think of how terribly fortunate I am.

Bed time.

*It’s been a decade since I’ve installed Linux. Things have, I believe, changed.
** How thick are thieves anyway? Are we talking thick-headed, or physically thick?

    Every so often I look over top my Dell and see her big brown eyes shining into her Dell and think of how terribly fortunate I am.

    You both are.

    One of my favorite things about this weekend was getting to hang out with so many adorably happy couples, and the two of you would be very high on that list.
