Big Deals and such

I was going to mention yesterday (until I got quite distracted thank you) that I went grocery shopping. This is kind of epic for me, as I’ve spent the last few months attached to the fast-food teat (yes, I said it).

I had the consequences of this rammed sharply into my noggin when I checked the fridge and found an entirely unopened box of milk that was well past its expiration. Further, I attempted to make a frozen pizza that was so freezerburned that the toppings entirely fell off in a thick, solid layer of ice.

Whoops.

However, my job schedule is changing such that I no longer have an hour of lunch. Oh, I will be getting out at 4 from now on, and I can not tell you how exciting that is (seriously, I can’t), but I will be “eating on the run” as they say. Well, as I say, right now.

Thusly, lunch needs to be a pre-prepared priority, preferably and primarily… erm… frozen. Or sandwiches, or other things I can whip up in advance because– have I ever told you how terrible I am about preparing food in advance? It’s not that I despise leftovers, so much as I hate reserving a split-second of my time for “routine maintenance”. If I had a house, it would be in shambles without a rigid calendar that said things like, “replace leaking ceiling today or suffer Lucy’s wrath.” I think she’s pretty cool with that, though.

So I made my way to lunch, and the climax to the story, if any, is that I bought and made food for lunch and lived happily ever after.

HOWEVER, the reason I actually wasted all of your time thus far is that if you live within a reasonable distance of the Meijer at 8 and Haggerty, and desire anything one might find in the frozen food section, I highly suggest you skedaddle on over within the next week or two. They’re doing maintenance on the section, and all of the frozen food is crammed into two aisles instead of three. Upshot is, deep discounts, my friend, and low low prices!

I’m just sayin’, I saved 20 bucks.

  1. I’m so very proud of you!! So what did you make for your lunch?

    • Dinner last night was mac n cheese w/ cracked pepper and sliced hot dogs. I made a family size box and put the remainder in those plastic sealable bowls (I like the lids that rotate to seal) and put them in the freezer.

I have to admit, even though I left it at my desk from morning until lunch, it was still a bit of a pain to defrost in the microwave. I guess I’ll have to figure that one out.

      I also had a banana.

I bought more (natural) PB for PB&J’s or PB& Spiced Honey, depending on my mood. Those are extra tasty, but honestly are not as filling as they maybe should be. I’d add delicious and crunchy cinnamon grahams, but that would get mushy before I ate it, I’m certain.

  2. YAY! Great job, Skennedy! now I am hungry for PB and spiced honey…that sounds yummy!
