Workout music

Hey all,

Looks like I signed up for a trial week at Snap Fitness (expensive once it begins, but they don’t even need a credit card for the trial week).

What music (specific songs) do you like to work out to?

I like a range of tempos (from medium to fast), and lyrics that evoke determination or self-control or something. In other words, depressing music doesn’t really motivate me to go another mile or do that last rep, y’know?

Anyway, leave a comment with some of your favorite songs to work out to.

  1. Rush! Any number of songs. Freewill and The Trees are both good, and a bunch of others.

  2. oh man. The English Beat – Just Can’t Stop It. My all time favorite work-out CD. I also like Hot Hot Heat – Make up the breakdown. Also, the LOLA RENNT soundtrack.

  3. Pokemon theme song

  4. “Eye of the Tiger” is good-anything by AC/DC or Queen. I also feel that the Rush album “Counterparts” is a good one, too.

  5. It might just be me but any of the DDR songs are pretty awesome to work out to.

  6. EYE OF THE TIGER!

    • Eye of the tiger was totally on my workout mix when I last used to work out at a gym. You know… back in 2003.

      I had it on cassette.

  7. Buckethead – whatever the first track from Robots and Monsters is. It’s all about pushing yourself and full on classic Bucket Head guitar.

Buckcherry – Crazy bitch. It makes me think of a few of my ex’s and working out to make myself better so I don’t have to settle for crazy bitches anymore….you get the idea. I also have Lit Up on my work out mix.

Godsmack-I’m Doing The Best I Ever Did and Voodoo.

Kid Rock – American Bad Ass and Bawitdaba

Mc Chris – DQ Blizzard – This gets me through more hard elliptical endings then any song. Its super fast drum and Bass beat.

Mika – Big Girl You Are Beautiful, Love Today and Lollipop

MC Frontalot- Goth Girls and Porn Song. Slower, driving beats to motivate me through harder things.

AC/DC- You Shook Me All Night Long and It’s a Long Way To The Top(when you want to rock and roll).

Van Halen – Big Fat Money

  8. Robert Miles – Children
    Verve – Bittersweet Symphony
    Mike – Grace Kelly
Black Eyed Peas – Let’s Get it Started
Britney Spears – Stronger (Neptin Remix)
Christina Aguilera – Ain’t No Other Man
Crystal Waters – 100% Pure Love
Def Leopard – Poor Some Sugar On Me
The Donnas – Take It Off
    Evanescence – Going Under
Fort Minor – Where’d You Go
Garbage – Cherry Lips (remixes of this are also go) and Only Happy When It Rains
    George Michael – Too Funky
    Harvey Danger – Flagpole Sitta
    HooDoo Gurus – Come Anytime
Kenny Chesney – She Thinks My Tractor’s Sexy
    Limp Bizkit – The End
    Lincoln Park – My Way
Moby (ft Gwen Steffani) – South Side
    Moecheeba – The Sea, Charango,
OK Go – Here It Goes Again
Outkast – The Way You Move
    Rammstein – Ich Will
Robbie Williams – Rock DJ, Let Me Entertain You
    Sneaker Pimps – 6 Underground
    Soup Dragons – I’m Free

  9. Todd Rundgren – Bang on the Drum All Day. Good beat and easy to sing along with while trying to ignore pain/ struggle.

  10. My favorite work-out song is “Babylon” by David Gray (Grey?). It’s upbeat, but still puts my spirit in a calm place, if that makes sense.

  11. Normally, I’m pretty much OK with whatever is being played at the gym as most of it gets tuned right out during a workout anyway. When I do bring music it’s usually just for the cardio part of the work out, and then it’s usually something harder like Tool, though I have been known to throw some Ani in as well.

    • Tool & Ani ftw!

I work out in teh pool w/o electronic devices, but I do have my mental jukebox, which has “Halloween” by Ministry on heavy rotation.

And I remember working out to New Order’s “Blue Monday” back in the day.

  12. The entire Prodigy “Fat of the Land” album.

  13. Some of my favorites:

    Roni Size – Dirty Beats
    Sweet – Ballroom Blitz
Hilltop Hoods – The Nosebleed Section
Architecture in Helsinki – Heart it Races
Queen – Princes of the Universe
    Bad Religion – American Jesus
    311 – Creatures (for a while)
    Flobots – The Rhythm Method
    Minibosses – Contra
Optimus Rhyme – Ping Pong Song (a good version is track 11 on MC Frontalot’s Secrets from the Future album, entitled “Very Poorly Concealed Secret Track”)

  14. I listen to the Old 97’s when I jog. No gym can contain my awesomeness.

  15. My current favorite workout tune is “Animal I Have Become” by Three Days Grace. I also have to second nettie75’s recommendation for anything by AC/DC. That was pretty much all we ever listened to in high school power lifting and it’s hard not to get pumped up. It’s practically a Pavlovian response at this point :p

  16. woohoo!!!
