Words!
Okay, as usual I will mutate this meme to my satisfaction.
Reply with 5 words that remind you of me. I will reply with A) my thoughts on what those 5 words mean to me and B) 5 words for you.
You can then either reply in my journal with what those words mean to you, OR you can post them in your own journal and perpetuate the wordity.
My words came from (a slightly different meme by) greybeta:
1. Photography
2. Michigan
3. Role-playing
4. Engagement
5. Focus
1. The moment I picked up a camera, I found myself passionate about it. After getting over some creative jitters (“am I hip enough for this? am I allowed to try this?”), I started taking photos of gatherings and, eventually, models. My best advice is to take as many photos as humanly possible and to read, watch, compare and experiment. Not having a digital camera at the moment, I take an order of magnitude less photos than I used to. Perhaps I should pull out grandma’s 35mm (one of my favorites).
Anyone interested in videography as a profession should also spend some time doing photography. Everything you learn will be useful, and there is much more room for patience and repetition.
2. Oh boy, what does Michigan mean to me? On the one hand, 90% of my favorite people are here. We have real seasons with amazing leaves, tons of trees, great fruit, lots of lakes. We are generally amiable, and we’re known for getting our asses on the dance floor. We have an exploding film industry. On the other, soul-crushing joblessness, disappearing social services, frustrating voting record, newly draconian border-crossing rules …
3. Now that’s an interesting one. As a teen, I went for D&D and the White Wolf series of games, though I tried out a bunch more. I play WoW and Fallout 3 and other adventures. I would say that I am in love with the intersection of storytelling and gaming.
4. Lucykins! My sweetie and I will be spending a week together shortly, which will be nice – half the time lately, we’re both too tired to even chat about our day. As for our wedding, I’m focused on trying to be down-to-earth about it – formal tradition means much less to me than whether it means something to each of us, and to our audience of friends and family.
5. Focus. I wonder how that was meant, but I shall put it in my own terms. I think one of my best traits is that I really, really want to understand, to learn, to adapt – for the pleasure of it. I am almost never too tired to put in that kind of effort, because it makes me happy. If I could bestow that pleasure from effort on other people, I think it would be the greatest gift I could offer. Even though some people find it annoying as all hell. ;)
Your turn!

Something about #5 made me think of this:
Words for you:
1. Car
2. Music
3. Circle
4. *Lean*
5. Grin
1. Relating to you and I, there are three solid “car” memories I have – two of them from my wee little S-10. I hope to never have to push-start a car again. ;)
2. One of the other memories in the S-10 was driving down the freeway from up north, sometimes with the windows down, with you singing whatever struck your fancy as we went. Tonight, I’m going to the most entertaining karaoke I’ve ever been to – an event that reminds me that the “sharing” aspect of music can be as good or better than just listening.
3. Hmm, I think of many things. A ritual with tea lights and friends; a concert (perfect circle) where the lead singer looked like the coppertone girl (his mic pack was heavy on his undies!); unity. Ben used to call me a “fuzzy circle” because he was taught personality types could be represented by shapes, and I’m, comparatively, squishy and round.
4. There is more value in casually intimate familiarity than in any declaration.
5. Just like some people open themselves up to laughing at themselves by being silly in public, there are people unafraid to really express their joy to others. Both require (IMO as always) accepting your vulnerability and leaping into life anyway. They of the million-watt grin.
1. Dance
2. Collaborate
3. Orange
4. Performance
5. Laughter
Fascniating. You know me and my ambiguity leaves it up to the reader! Anyways, you’re free to choose five words for me. It may be little while as I’ll probably wait until tomorrow to post them due to schoolwork reasons.
1. Black Lotus (okay, it’s 2 words)
2. Firestarter
3. Conservative
4. Potato (srsly!)
5. God
1. Play
2. Curiosity
3. Tacklehug
4. Ambassador
5. Strength
1. Simians play. Dolphins play. Dogs and cats play. Einstein played. Musicians play. Tellers of tall tales play. Scientists play. Lovers play. Athletes play. Teachers play. And yes, children play. Who am I to do otherwise? It is a right, good thing in this world, a thing of joy and its own success.
2. I don’t understand how not to want to know. What does one do with one’s brain?
3. I can’t even remember when I began tacklehugging online. I do know that for many years now, I have had a tradition of receiving a genuine tacklehugTM from my wee ninja friend, where she would leap upon me and I would spin her about, and she would go eeeeeee! She even tacklehugged me at her own wedding. It makes me happy. :D
4. There is a keen difference between truly understanding someone, even caring about them, and living inside their emotional world. An ambassador, as I see it, is someone who can be flexible in their behavior and attitude, someone who can see someone else’s point of view without forgetting themselves. An ambassador is sometimes, but not always, a reconciler amongst different views.
5. Strength of will is very important to me. Behaving recklessly, without heed of consequences, is foolish. Taking risks while fully understanding the consequences, that is strength.
There is no will more difficult to fight than your own id.
1. Radiant
2. Wit
3. Drive
4. Joy
5. Fear
*poke*
“You can then either reply in my journal with what those words mean to you, OR you can post them in your own journal and perpetuate the wordity.”
;)
1. WOW
2. Camera/video camera
3. Lucy
4. cat allergies
5. geekiness
1. This has become a social outlet for me – sometimes I love what it does for me, providing me with communication and connection where I had none, and sometimes I loathe it – spending an entire weekend raiding can feel just as unproductive as sitting in front of the TV, at times.
2. I love to shoot. :)
3. My sweet hotness.
4. The bane of my existence.
5. There is a special bond between people unwilling or incapable of conforming to the current state of What’s Cool.
1. Son
2. Gaming
3. Support
4. Trials
5. Introversion
Let’s see…
1) frolicsome
2) inviting
3) smile
4) wit
5) weird
1. I was once told by a friend that one of the things that surprised him about me when he got to know me is that I “move like a little guy”. I assume that means I hop about in some spritely way. :)
2. Hey baby, whatchoo doin’? One thing that I instantly notice about people is when someone immediately engages me when we’re introduced. Some people take their time to “invest” a positive attitude, and some people offer it freely.
3. *grin*
4. Wit, to me, is all about creative association. The best humor comes from unexpected connections. When I’m “off”, people think I’m random, strange, and out of context. When I’m “on”, I am hot. :D
5. See 4. ;)
And for you:
1. KT
2. Kitty!
3. Traveler
4. Flirtatious
5. Memetastic
Please note that weird is positive in my book. :)
