Ow.
Some time last week, I fell asleep on the couch, on my side, neck on the high arm bolster. I’ve regretted it ever since.
Last night, just to sit at my computer I had to take some ibuprofen for the muscle between my neck and shoulder. Today, I keep doing what self-massage I can, but you’d be surprised at how difficult it is to really work your own muscles (ha ha) without leverage. It does a little good, but not a lot.
I doubt I’ll actually do it, but I need to find some time with a pro.

Don’t forget my wife is a pro at that sort of thing.
That’s true. I have a hard time asking friends who are professional to help like that, though, unless I’m coming to see them at their company in the usual way.
You are always welcome to ask for a massage! :)
Ice it tonight if you can. 20 minutes on, 2 minutes off. really does help.
Seconded on the icing. Also, a stretch that will help the other kinked-up muscles in the area without hurting you more: Sit or stand straight. Slowly look down as far as you can; hold it ten seconds. Slowly look up; hold ten seconds. Tilt to the left, hold 10 sec; same on the right. Then look over your left & right shoulders, still making sure to move VERY slowly, and hold 10 sec. at the near-limit of where you can turn it.
Martial arts trick. My favorite for computer neck. Feel better!

I totally made that dirty. He He. ;)
I bought a massage here: http://www.holisticbutterflystudio.com/
She knows the proprietor, and highly recommends her. Also, there are apparently facebook specials. ;)
