I need to make friends that live closer than 15-20 miles away (or ones who love to travel) so that I can wake up on a saturday and say “Who wants to meet me for lunch at this new place across the street I’ve never been to?” and get a response. :D
What are you all doing this lovely bright and snowy weekend?
Mainlining season 4 of Babylon 5 and making a test batch of my new praline recipe.
Sadly, I’m about to head into work. Building up some leave time so I can leave work early & head to my local sci-fi con next weekend :(
Just finished a frenetic all-family housecleaning, and am about to run some errands. After that? Maybe work on the office-repurposing project, maybe curl up with a book. Depends on how much motivation I find.
I didn’t hear you say that this morning. All I got was a picture of pickle flavored chips. :P
I’m sitting around after having “played” with the Wii Active. About to get in the shower. After that? No clue, for I am home alone and have no ideas. :(
I didn’t say that, ’cause I know you don’t like to travel. :)
That is very silly.
Well, I still haven’t eaten today. Wanna join me?
I would love to, but my parents are dropping the girls off sometime soon, and I just had lunch. I would have earlier tho!
Working, dammit. It’d be a nice day to be out-and-about, too; cold, yes, to the point that the snow is glittering but with little wind and amazing sunlight.
(But who am I kidding… if I had today off I’d be playing through my Mass Effect DLC to finish it off before the sequel comes out in two weeks. Curse you, BioWare, for linking the two titles… great design, but it punches a lot of my completionist buttons.)
— Steve’s going to try to take his last break today as an exercise break and get in 10-12 minutes of walking time beneath the Daystar for a change.
Lazing around with the boyfriend. I think the only task I have for myself today is taking down the Christmas tree. Which is a lot less work than putting it up. :)
Mine’s still up, oops :)
Not much right now, but later tonight I’m getting dragged down to the Old Miami in Detroit. (If you haven’t heard of it, it’s this odd little hole-in-the-wall place originally founded by and for Vietnam vets. Somehow, over the years, its become something of a punk venue.) My roommate is co-guest-DJ’ing some sort of ’80s Alternative theme night and doesn’t drive, so I’ll be stuck there all night. (I’m not really much of a bar guy anymore.)
You’d certainly be welcome to drop by for a couple of hours if you con’t have plans this evening!
Bah, venue rescheduled at the last minute. They’re moving this night to tomorrow, and who goes out the the bar on Sunday? It’s no problem for me and my midnight shift job, but now I’m sure no one else can make it. :P
Sadly I’m even further away than most, as going somewhere for lunch sounds like a pretty good idea.
It’s a cool, dull, grey Sunday morning here, despite supposedly being in one of the warmest parts of summer. Current plans involve finishing up a game writing ticket, working some more on my PhD, and a bowl of porridge with blueberries, cinnamon and a hint of maple syrup.
I totally feel your pain. My only local friend lives more than an hour away. I don’t visit much, because they run a little farm and i feel like i’m keeping them from taking care of their creatures and land. And i have a weird phobia about inviting people into my house.
I moved ~10 minutes from work, but farther away from most of the people I go see. Turns out the ones I’m seeing a lot of are no closer to the old place than the new one…so I have to make a point to go visit them. (With one notable exception. :) )
I went to see some Roller Derby action Saturday evening, the Quad City Rollers were hosting a mix-up (mash-up?), i.e. they didn’t have enough folks on hand for four teams so they had to bring in more women to make pickup teams to compete against. The woman I went with didn’t make it into the second round–her team lost 28-29–which had the benefit of her not having to play for another two 30-minute periods.
You said it. I have precious few LJ friends anywhere nearby.
