First, a rant, and next, something good

My operating system is so totally fucked, that if I -cut- and -paste- a file, I can no longer access that file. As in, it exists, but in some black hole that doesn’t allow me to ever approach it again. If I cut and paste in Premiere, it shuts down premiere. My computer freezes 50% of the time when I burn DVDs. Also, every time I attempt to reinstall Java, it fails. Even after uninstalling, even going back a few versions.

And this all began when I ran a CHKDSK.

Tonight, I believe I will try to run XP setup overtop the original setup. If that doesn’t work, (or if it jacks it up worse), I’ll have to reinstall completely – at that point, my wrath at XP will be felt, more than heard.

  1. Run memtest+. Sounds to me like some of the weirdness I’d see when a machine has bad RAM, or other related hardware.
