Heather is teh awesomest.

Heather’s my ‘older sister’. She doesn’t mine being called that because she looks like she’s about 21. She and I started chatting it up on the BBSes around… 15 years ago. She gave me girl advice and helped me escape the house when things got hairy.

We’ve consoled each other through crappy significant others, we’ve been to each other’s major events, and even though we have never lived particularly close to each other, we always find a little time in our hyper-busy lives to hang out and talk. It’s one of those “time doesn’t change” friendships, and I’m seriously hoping the same can be said for distance.

She’s moving away in a few months, all the way to sunny FL.

She’s always glad to see me. We sometimes run into each other randomly (like at a concert in Toledo, where she gave my cruel soon-to-be-ex-girlfriend the evil eye), and she’ll come running down the hall screaming, “Scottie!” and leap at me. I’m sorry, that just doesn’t get old.

She’s an amazing professional certified massage therapist. She’s always in classes to learn new techniques and entirely different methods. She taught me a lot – I would come over and hang out, and she’d teach me something new. I’d suggest you all go to her, but she’s just about booked up, and come March or so, she’s off to join her boy, who found a new job down south.

Let me just say that either she’s talked me way up, or that guy is just incredibly cool, because from the very moment we met, I felt like he was right at home with me, like I had the benefit of the doubt that I was just one great dude. That’s amazing and awesome when it happens – I remember thinking the same of my buddy Dasro when I met him.

Anyway, I haven’t seen her much over the past year or two, but we went out for dinner and a chat, recently. I’m gonna miss her when she’s livin’ la vida sunshine.

  1. What a great friendship. I have a feeling that distance won’t change it. It sounds similar to a friendship I have, where we don’t see each other for years, but when we do, it’s as though it had only been a matter of days.

  3. What was her online handle? The name Heather doesn’t strike a bell, but I’d remember a handle in a heartbeat. :)

    • Gabrielle. There was more, but she probably doesn’t want me to blab it publicly :D I’ll tell you next time we’re in person.
