About Boston

One of my friends wrote this (I’ll link if he’s kosher with that), and I thought it was amusing and wanted to propogate:

Looks like Turner is paying the city of Boston a million dollars for their little publicity stunt. You just know that right now, there’s a group of marketing execs sitting around a table laughing their asses off after getting breathless nationwide news coverage for a whole day for the paltry price of a million dollars. It worked for me – I’ll definately go see the ATHF movie when it comes out, creativity like that, and pissing off the city with the biggest stick in it’s ass in this whole country should be rewarded.

I have to admit, I am precisely that cynical.

  1. Exactly

There was an interesting piece on NPR this morning about all of that, pretty much stating exactly that.

  3. heh, yeah, I hadn’t thought about it that way, but yes, very cheap PR, and likely to appeal to precisely the demographic they’re aiming at. ;)

  5. Definitely cheap PR.. A million for a multimedia international ad campaign? Damn cheap.

Even better? The picture they’ve been showing of Ignignokt? The one of him flipping people off? Internationally? Multimedialy? I giggled every time i saw it on the news, or in the paper, or on a website. I was giggling a lot.

  7. I’ll see the movie, if only for Frylock. But I will have to be under the influence I think.
