Brainwaves of Sken

(I’m feeling sort-of stream-of-consciousness today, just to warn you)

I haven’t had much time (since my trip) to take pictures, but since Friday I have been all over the state, visiting my friends and friends-of-friends. I’ve laughed uproarously, told tasteless jokes, and had great conversations. Parties great and small. I’ve loved and been loved very well, thank you very much, and that’s just, y’know, three days. This icon is so appropriate for me right now.

Lucy picked me up from the airport, and we spent the entire weekend having adventures together. I really love that. And her.

Some times, after you’ve been toiling away in the same scenario for awhile, you feel like you’re living in a vacuum. This week has helped burst that bubble for me. I am very pleased to note that I can jet off to various major cities and meet old friends. And make new friends. And come home to more of the same.

I got together with Krystyn while I was in Chicago and told her that one of the things I loved about her was that she could tell me when I was doing something she thought was sucky, and yet we were still cool. *chuckle* We work at being good people, at doing the right thing, and sometimes we, y’know, say something shitty. Or whatever.

I think part of not living in a vacuum is acknowledging that you aren’t perfect, and having people near you to help you learn from it. There’s always someone there to throw a snowball made with love and laughter, and I really dig that. It reminds me of a music video of Peter Gabriel, where all of society lives in their own personal bubbles. Thanks for bursting mine, and jumping into my space.

My boss is behaving rather inexplicably. He’s given me Monday and Tuesday off as ‘comp days’, and it looks like he’s suggesting I take Wednesday off, as well.

Also, early reports regarding my videos are very positive.

I’m pretty down with that shit. I’ve got a ton of things I want to do with my time – the first is a major reorganization of my apartment, including finally getting those prints on my walls. The second is the video project I’ve been working on for forever. The third is for me to know. The fourth is creating that portfolio to present to my boss in favor of having a cooler job title, and a cooler paycheck. Wish me luck!
