NYC

New York City

Other than having lunch at this little irish pub in Times Square (a block or two from my room), I haven’t done anything in NYC yet. Getting my room at the Marriott Marquis took a bit of waiting, since the plane arrived at 1p.

I’m unlikely to hit up the Statue of Liberty, because today’s the only day I was free before 5pm, buuut there’s a tonne to do here, anyway. Once I’m done posting the pictures from out my window, I think I’m going to hit up Broadway. Woo!

(no editing of my photos today. what a strange flash-bounce I got on the interior photo. It looks like something’s in front of the camera, but there most definitely was not. Perhaps it’s an unusual speck-reflection.)

  1. So, where in this shot is the nearest Starbucks? :-P

  2. …BEYOND JEALOUS. sigh. I have so many good friends there! I could be with them right now!

too bad you don’t know Fred – you guys would probably love each other.

    • Honestly, although I have some obscure family members here (and my sister isn’t too far away when she’s not at school), I don’t really know -anyone- here.

‘cept the people I came with, of course, but they’re work folks. :)

      • yes, but I’m from boston – so I have all sorts of people (and beloved ex’s) down there.

honestly, if you DID want someone to hang out with, I’m sure Fred would be cool with it. He’s about my age, still in school so he might be busy… he’s a little quiet but he’s really smart and has pillow fights in random places around the city (you may have heard about people doing that).
Anyway, I’d be happy to ask him – but if you’re with work people, I assume you are busy working?

        AHEM.

For the record, I walk through the carport of the Marriott Marquis twice a day. Once on my way to the office, and once on the way home.

        New York City welcomes you!

        • Holy shit! I had no idea. Want to meet up for dinner Wednesday or Thursday night?

        • Erm… I can’t believe I had no idea. You mention it in, like, nearly every post. *headdesk* How about I revise myself: I clearly had an idea, and immediately forgot said idea.

          • Ha! It’s cool, I get it. No need to explain.

What’s your schedule looking like tomorrow (Wednesday)? I could potentially swing dinner (or drinks). It’d be great to hang out!

          • I can’t say for sure, but I imagine sometime after seven would be best. I should be able to get back to the hotel and get the car-exec funk off me by then.

drop me an e-mail at atdt1991 at gmail , and we’ll exchange phone #’s

        • D’oh!

  3. What pub?

Down the street on 42nd B/T 9th & 10th Aves is where I met my husband.

Virgil’s BBQ on 46th isn’t bad – a nice alternative to the crappy chain restaurants they put in when they disnefied it.

If you don’t mind a little walk – head across 42nd to 9th Ave – Revolution is a good restaurant on 9th & 43rd, and there is a great Italian place called Pietrasanta on 48th & 9th. And if you are over on 9th – go to 39th & 9th to the Cupcake Cafe.

    Have a great time.

I would be jealous and get all homesick, but I am going back in May. Hurrah for my team!

    • Hmm, It’s got 2 floors and Their own special bleu burger – there were three pubs in a row in one block, and we chose the middle pub.

The italian restaurant definitely sounds groovy, thanks! I’ll check it out.

The Naked Guitarist was a nice New York touch (as was watching girls grab his butt during photos) and the Rockefeller Center ice rink shows just how TV makes everything look much larger than it really is.

Heh, I’d rather go exploring than work on videos!

  4. What do you use to edit your photos?

    • Normally? Photoshop. Though I’ve tried many things, I’ve been using Photoshop for about ten years, and I’m very quick at it. Especially now that it comes with Adobe Bridge, which is a sort of mass view/edit/batching program.
