I finally bought a pair of cheap, rough half-leather gloves so’s I can cut off the fingertips and have something reasonable to use with my carving knives. I haven’t worked much on my staff since Midsummer campout, mostly ’cause my palms were forming cute little blisters. Nearly all of the bark (both rough and inner layers) has been removed.
I’ve been thinking about using electrical tape to sort of set out the shape I’m wanting. I came up with a photoshop version, of course, but I’m not going to try to print that thing out and wrap it on the pole.
This Toyota video is driving me insane. I think I’ll be suggesting a different camera for future work, the mpegs come out kind of jenky some of the time, and I have to convert them to AVI’s to get them to work.
