Philly, Uncle, Rachael

I talked to Rachael today, and told her I’ll be in Philly for my uncle’s wedding. Yes, the one where I’m supposed to be the best man (so sayeth my mom, but in this family, who knows, heh).

She’s taking the weekend off her R.A. duties, in case we might be able to hang out. If all goes well, it will be the… third? time I’ve seen my sister in my life. *grin*

I may get to see my cousins, too, but there’s some sort of family drama, of course, and to some extent the generations have split apart. Or so I hear. *rolls eyes*

I miss my family, that is for certain. It is also certain that I am glad I do not live close enough to be embroiled in shenanigans. I would love to live closer to my sister, but I don’t think I could survive living closer to everyone else for more than a few months.

  1. Please fill in the background more? I apologize if I haven’t been listening as hard as I ought to have been.

    • What would you like to know? My mom’s generation all moved back to Philly from around the country, all divorced, along with my grandma (from FL) and my 3 cousins (from MN). They each had kids of their own as well.

I have a half-sister who knew about me, though I didn’t know about her. She found me via the internet at 10 (so, clearly my sister), and I’ve gone to visit her in NJ twice since then. I’ve met her mom, who is extremely nice, and my grandmother on that side.

I should say my mom and dad have been divorced since before I was 1, and I have seen him perhaps three times in my life (all before I met Rachael).

  2. Your sister’s cute. :)

(Insert all manner of jokes designed to make you uncomfortable.)

  3. I can totally relate to wanting to be closer to family, yet glad to be out of the drama that is family.

Bring a sword. That is the word of George.

    *fin*
