I don’t actually remember confessing to any such thing (“huhs” or bitten, for that matter), but I’m willing to accept it as most likely true. :the “I’m so cute” shrug:
Do in mean just as in a simple response or the derogatory “Huh?” that might indicates they really don’t care what you asked or plan on seriously answering?
Or is this just a response to someone close who does this merely to irritate you?
What I mean is that “huh” provides no additional information and forces the person to then ask you questions to figure out what you are “huh”ing about. Did they just not hear it? Is there a word that they’ve never heard of before, or do they not semantically understand the sentence, and need it rephrased? Are they trying to say you need to speak up?
All of these things are possible, and using “huh” as a punishment for people who mumble, as one person I know does, is A) not exactly a kind way to go about having a conversation and B) presuming people use “huh” to mean one thing (speak clearly), which it does not.
Except all my friends, who I love dearly and don’t want to die, ever. Especially Ed, Dave, and K.T., who have admitted to using huh sometimes.
Love ya!
:smirk:
I had considered responding to this with a “huh”, but I was pretty sure it would get me bitten.
You like that.
Aw – I even get the sexy icon for it!

Huh! Huh!? Huh.
*implodes*
if I was phaedra, I’d use my imploding icon right here.
Ask and ye shall receive.
*beams* ftw
Except it’s more like an exploding icon than an imploding icon. *grin*
Well, generally an implosion is followed by an explosion – where’s all that energy gonna go, after all?
I prefer “zuf?” just to keep things fresh. Or “yes.”
Naughty, naughty zuf!
Er, wait. zut!
could you rephrase the question?
;-)
I love you, Mr. or Ms. A nony mouse.

Myself, I try to ask “Pardon?”

How complicated?
Wha?
