I backed my car into a cop car the other day
Well he just drove off, sometimes life’s ok
I ran my mouth off a bit too much, oh what can I say
Well you just laughed it off, it was all ok
And we’ll all float on, ok
And we’ll all float on, ok
And we’ll all float on, ok
And we’ll all float on any way, well
Well, a fake Jamaican took every last dime with a scam
It was worth it just to learn some sleight-of-hand
Bad news comes don’t you worry even when it lands
Good news will work its way to all them plans
We both got fired on the exactly the same day
Well we’ll float on good news is on the way
I’ve come to like this song, even though I didn’t, initially. It always reminds me of family-style friendship. Everyone “runs their mouth off a bit too much” once in awhile. It reminds me that there’s much value in letting go of the small things when you love someone and know they aren’t trying to be a dick. Not every stupid comment requires a stern talking-to, and not every dumb-ass statement threatens the end of a friendship.
There are people in my life who’ve let me slide when I’ve been a jerk (not recently, I do hope), and I hope I’ve spread that out, a bit, too.
And we’ll all float on, ok
EDIT (5 am): Life’s just fucking weird sometimes. And sad.

I love Modest Mouse so, so much. But I was really resistant to them at first, when they seemed like just another trendy indie thing. But then I realized they’re good.
