BEEKEEPERS: The future is now!

Bionic eyes: Contact lenses with circuits, lights a possible platform for superhuman vision

Does this look… familiar?

Man, I’m good. ;)

(for those of you not in the know, I designed that for a “special commendation” in the I Love Bees ARG)

  1. WANT

of course, i don’t wear contacts for the simple reason that putting anything that close to my eye, let alone TOUCHING my eye squicks me out… but i would work to overcome that just for these

    • For the same reason I’m glad that I trained myself not to flinch at age 15 and have worn contacts for ten years – all the irritation of putting the things in is totally worth it if I have something to look forward to.

  2. Power

I would love to know what the power source is.

It doesn’t mention it in the article, but is it possible it uses the bodies natural currant?

  3. Get this to be embedded in my cornea, then let’s talk.

    Great find! :)

    • My coworker just got an eye upgrade. laser surgery so he can now see better than ever, AND got himself an implanted UV filter, freakin crazy!

      • Daaaaaamn, didn’t know they were implanting filters and such like that. I’ll have to mention it to my optometrist the next time I see him and hear what he thinks.

        • That’s one of those things that, once I have crazy money, I’m going to have to buy my husband – my prescription bounces too much for laser surgery to ever help.

          • First you got to get sent to a slam, where they tell you you’ll never see daylight again. You dig up a doctor, and you pay him 20 menthol Kools to do a surgical shine job on your eyeballs.. Wait.. no.. thats Pitch Black..

          • Lol…I’d have to be really screwed up to want to move to the Pitch Black/Riddick reality – I think I’ll just wait for our technology to get to that point.

  4. Impressive work, Sarge. Can’t wait to put my own eye under the knife for this.
