Icons
I find it interesting to note that most people don’t use too many icons with their face in it. A new LJ friend of mine actually has more than I do, with nearly every single one of her icons being, actually, of her.
So now I’m curious. What do you think about icons of yourself? Do you prefer other things instead?
Personally, I stopped using mood icons many years ago now – I prefer the visual element, rather than just, say Mood: bored.
I don’t have too many of the cranky moods represented, though – that might just be because I’m not cranky all that often. :)

ICON LOVE!!
I love all of you peeps. *nodnod*
:D *muah*
I use both… /shrug
Yes, but have you noticed that you are just as likely to use an icon with you and other people in it? I always thought it was just your way of showing all the lovin you get!
I go back and forth – I only have a few icons with me in them, but I tend to use them when I’m being particularly flirty or close with someone I’m responding to – or I’ll use them with people I only recently met in person, to solidfy one name with the other.
On the other, er, hand – I also have a hand theme going to represent different moods, which I enjoy.
*chuckle* Most of my icons have both myself and other people, yes. However, think of it another way – my headchew icon would be pretty incomprehensible if lucy’s skull wasn’t in the way. ;)
This is the only icon I have that has a picture of me. I’m usually the one taking pics, so I rarely -have- pictures of me, and even more rarely like them.
I only have a couple userpics with myself in them, but I generally don’t choose any specific ones of those pertaining to my mood, I leave that to the actual mood icons that I’ve created, of which there are, I think, close to a hundred or more.
Indeed, you’re an interesting exception, because you don’t formally use your icons to show yourself, but you’ve got a huge breadth of mood icons that really are you.
I love those icons, if I haven’t mentioned it lately.
I have one icon. Let me show you it.
Don’t own a digital camera.
That’s no excuse when you’ve got a camera-obsessed (and I say that in the best way!) girlfriend. There are multiple dozens of photos of you on the internets, and not all of them are silly.
Hell, I took some of them. :)
I tend to eschew cameras because I’m 1/87th Iroquois and we have beliefs about these things (we’re very deep and mystical, you know), but I love icons that feature my lovely friends! In fact, I might have to make with the camera love out of common icon courtesy. Does the Golden Rule apply to digital pictures?
That being said, I have one icon that’s really my dog. No kidding.
I say it does!
I have a new icon on the way! :D
For the most part, I have self pics as icons (ok maybe around half), and I attempt to choose a relevent icon for each entry, while keeping a general use icon for commenting… I think it’s great and it helps people recognize you when you meet in person :)
I hate pictures of myself and I assume others feel the same way.
I have a basic pic of me that I use for general stuff, one with Steve Jobs (showing off 10.8 Liger no less) I use for Apple posts, and a real firey one I use when I’m pissed and want to rant.
‘Cause that’s basically all there is in my life. :)
Hey, I took that picture you’re using for your icon! I’m so proud!
My icon changed to one that my wife drew when I realized that I didn’t have any good pictures of myself to use.
Heh, thanks a bunch!
Of course. It wasn’t like it was tricky to take, there was good lighting, good cleavage…
Funny, how that always makes a photo better …
ugh, i hate pictures of me
I have quite a few of me, I don’t use them all that often but they’re useful for some situations :) I should really crop down some more from my 365 project for icons!
Srsly, they’d make great icons.
