Help!

My mom has a couch she wants to donate to me, but I don’t have a truck anymore. Does anyone have the ability to help me out here? She lives in Berkley (12 and Greenfield) and I live in Northville (5 and Haggerty).

Her new couches have come in at Art Van, so she needs me to take this one off her hands to get it in.

  1. I’m not much help here, but Uhaul rents pickups for $25/day-ish. You could try them if no one else can come through.

    I know you get around much better now, but I sort of miss your little truck. Didn’t it move my couch from the apartment I shared with Anneliese to the new place a block over? And I rode in the back like it was a parade?

    • Heh, that plucky little thing probably wouldn’t hold this couch, anyway. You have to admit it was ballsy, what with the “purple racing stripe” and all.

      After all the times I had to give it a push start, I rather wish I’d been able to give it an honorable funeral.

    • Typically that “$25/day” rate is a come-on price. Once you’re all in, you’re usually paying well over a hundred and more for the truck rental.

  2. How big is the couch? What sort of vehicle is necessary to move it? (I.e. hatchback, minivan, large pickup, small semi, etc.)

    • It’s not a love-seat, it’s a 3-panel couch, doesn’t separate. I’d say that a large pick-up, SUV, or maybe minivan is necessary. It’s heavy as sin, but once I figure out how to get it here, I’ll figure out who can help bring it in.

  3. If you can’t coordinate with Roxanne’s van, we’re due to borrow Alex’s mom’s SUV soon to move some things out of my house.

    Has she checked to see if Art van will move the old couch?

    • I imagine they’d probably take it, but I doubt they’d transport it to another location for her. I’ll check.

  4. I have to double check with kevin but I’m pretty sure we can help you out. I have to work until 4:30 but should be available after that. I work at 8 & Haggerty…kevin’s working in westland…he pass right by there He has a large tool box in the back of his truck but I’m sure we can strap it in with something.
