I picked up Smash Bros today
I called Gamestop and said, “Do you have Smash Bros in stock?” And they said, “Yes! Do you have a pre-order?” “No.” “Oh, sorry. We’re out. Maybe Tuesday morning.”
That happened twice. Fuck you, Gamestop. You are not conditioning me to pre-order from you like you want.
Instead, you are conditioning me to always go to a Meijer or a Target, like I did today, casually walk up and buy the wares, no muss or fuss.
Now if only I had someone to play it with …

I was playing, drunk, of all things at 1am when my friend got home with his Pre-ordered copy from game stop. its interesting especially when you put it on random.
Heh, nice. :) I wrote that, actually, while I was in Lansing, so I haven’t played it yet. I’ll pop it in momentarily.
I wanna play!!
Have Smashbros, will travel.
Yes, we need to do that at the soonest possible opportunity.
*chuckle* Whatcha doin, say, now?
Sorry, not today. :(
We are having kid time today, after a very busy weekend.
We would love to get together really soon though.
No prob, let me know :)
Have you gotten online play to work? I can spectate fine, but get disconnected if I try to find a match for myself.

I loved Smash Bros back when my sister got it for her gamecube, ages ago… it’s the only game I’ve ever really enjoyed.
My son was up before 8 am, on a Sunday. Too bad GS doesn’t open until 10 … he was down playing it all day. You could maybe challenge him – will Penguicon have a Wii set up?
It’s pretty clear that our local GameStop is run by a guy who loves video games. Sorry, Target and Meijer just don’t offer that. Yeah, I know it means that they have to guess how many copies they will sell, rather than just overbuying and returning the rest, but I’d rather keep the local guys in business.
As Lucy can attest to, the Gamestop near me is run by a total jerk. He’s given us a hard time nearly every time we come in there, and doesn’t seem to care whether we buy anything or not. GameStop seems just as much a franchise as Meijer, except they make their money by selling used games at a huge mark-up.
There’s no point in returning a game like SSBB, it’s literally the most popular game produced for the wii, all will be sold. The point is that they have a reputation for doing things like bundling rare (read: wii) systems or not carrying base (xbox 360 core) units, hard-selling their game guides, and literally withholding games until a few days after release to convince people to pre-order.

A company that has 1.3 billion dollars in sales every quarter should, in my opinion, provide more honest service.
I’m down for some Smash, once I get my copy. I’ll send out a friend code once I have it.
Friend code beyond Wii code = Stupid
Sweet.
And yeah. Even more stupid – only 5 positions for friend names (so you’d be QUIGL). Also stupid – NO WAY TO COMMUNICATE with your people.
So frustrating.
