The Ferrett made a post asking people to tell him uplifting, beautiful secrets, and people suggested he make another one asking people to post anonymously so they can be shared.

I think that’s a great idea! I’m not above stealing good ideas, nor above coercing my fine friends into writing.

Tell me, anonymously if you’d like, anything you’d like to share that you think is beautiful or uplifting.

Comments will be unscreened.

  1. I never would have gone to college if it weren’t for my friends gently pushing me and building up my confidence. Also, if it weren’t for that horse.

  2. I can’t decide between best friends. They don’t make me, so it doesn’t matter. I always thought I’d be alone. I never knew I would be so lucky.

  3. The other day, someone told her young daughter I’d be coming over, and she said “Yay! I like him!”

She’s only met me twice. It totally made my week!

  4. I wasn’t sure if I’d like you, at first, but who you are now makes me very happy.

  5. I never thought I would have the capacity or opportunity to fall in love again, but I do believe I have. And even if it doesn’t last, I know now that I am able.

  6. I thought you should know that I am definitely not going to:

    give you up
    let you down
    run around
    and desert you …

  7. The guy behind me in line at the grocery store today had a nice vibe, so i smiled at him. He smiled back. Seems mundane enough, but i usually do my best to mind my business and not even look at other people.

  8. Sometimes when I’m around a bunch of people (usually strangers) I’ll spend my time with them considering how exactly each one is uniquely beautiful. Never been stumped yet.

  9. My thing lately

I love the idea that human beings — self-conscious living things — are the Universe’s way of being able to perceive and contemplate itself. We’re mirrors; mirrors of the right complexity to be able to reflect the whole of existence. The Universe took the same ingredients that make up stars and rocks and dust and fire, and put them together in a pressure-cooker for a few millennia, just to produce something that could look out at everything and go, “Oh, wow. So THAT’S what I look like from the outside!”

Somehow, every time I come *this close* to going crazy lately, this idea holds me together.

  10. Everyone can make someone else’s day.

I saw a woman loaded to the gills with bags and two small children – so I proceeded to help her to her car. For a small moment in time, she looked relieved, and perhaps not so stressed out.

  11. You were one of the best friends I’ve had. Always there, honest and fair with me, and I am deeply grateful for that, even if we don’t talk as much as we used to.

I still love you, miss you often, and am so happy for you that your life is moving forward in good, good ways.

    xoxo
