  1. I saw it years ago at Massey Hall in Toronto. It’s well worth seeing, folks; the visuals are great, you get to watch people play games with a live orchestra playing the incidental music (that’s the “Interactive” part of the set list… they only had Space Invaders and Frogger when I saw it), and of course the music rocks.

    — Steve’ll have to keep an eye out for the concert DVD that’s apparently coming soon.

    • “another sold-out night at Massey Hall!”

“Once, on the sign, the G-R blew out, so we were just “EAT BIG SEA”….”

  3. We saw this show here in Dallas a few months ago. I want to warm you that though the music that was played was good, I don’t feel like we got our money’s worth. The show was hosted by Tommy Talarico, who did *a lot* of grandstanding. There were long stretches with no music where he was just nattering on and on. You can always look online to see what other people who have attended are saying about the show if you haven’t already. Don’t just take my word for it.

Also, if you want to see a really worthwhile videogame orchestra performance, I’d highly recommend checking out one of the Chicago Distant Worlds performances in 2011: http://www.ffdistantworlds.com/

We saw the Grand Rapids show 2 years ago and it was fantastic. I’ve never played Final Fantasy, and I still loved it and wish we could see it again.

    • *L* Well now you’ve scared away my potential cohorts!

      • Sorry? That was our impression of the show – too much monologuing from Talarico and not enough music. As I said, research other reviews online. Mine is just one opinion.

      • I’m not going to lie; viewer discretion advised, as some scenes contain Tommy Talarico. However, I didn’t find them excessive, and frankly one ask-the-audience segment which ended with him, by request, picking out “Earthworm Jim” on a guitar off-the-cuff was rather funny.

They’re usually relevant, too, as Talarico did compose a lot of game music. Mine had Jack Wall (composer of the Mass Effect soundtrack, though ME1 had yet to come out) as well.

        — Steve’s version also had a fair quantity of epic loot given away, including a Porche-designed gaming laptop. (Yeah, in Porche red. Leather interior (wrist-rests) too.)

  5. Brit and I really wanted to go to this, but we just don’t have the money at the moment. Alas!
