Corporate Boredom
•April 11, 2007 • 3 Commentsozy_y2k and I are in a really interesting discussion about the specialization of jobs and whether or not boredom is inherent and students should be given more experience with this before being thrust into the world.
Okay, it’s probably not interesting to most, and it’s definitely wordy, but I find it terribly fascinating. If you’re bored and looking to share your mind about something, go there and put in your two cents!
I have to say that these kinds of discussions are one of my absolute favorite things about LJ.
Note: I don’t expect my perspective to be popular, so please feel free to trash my point, heh.
So geeked
•April 10, 2007 • 13 CommentsPenguicon in less than 2 weeks, panels aplenty, and San Francisco mere days later!
Question: Should I revive StrongBad for Penguicon? It’s a hot head, but it’s better than anyone else’s I’ve seen. It just needs a little extra paint, liquid stitch, and perhaps some actual laces for the back.
I know it’s unlikely, but if anyone’s able to drive me to the airport on the morning of Thursday the 26th (8a or so), I would be very appreciative – I don’t wanna put my car in a lot! I hope to see as many of you west-coasters as I can while I’m out there.

•April 10, 2007 • 25 CommentsSo, the boss called me in to tell me that he talked with the editor, who fully agrees I need to be paid much more. Editor needs to talk with -his- higher-up before we can figure out firm numbers, but I’m looking at 8-15k more at the usual raise time (EOY), plus a mid-year bonus.
So tonight I think I’m going to order pizza and watch Office Space to celebrate. ;)
Anyone’s welcome to come share :D

•April 9, 2007 • 14 CommentsI may have 4 free passes to see Spiderman 3 on Thursday night, May 3rd (midnight). If I do… are you interested?
(It’d be at Emagine Theater, probably the one in Canton)
Protected: I admit to being painfully curious.

•April 9, 2007 • 5 CommentsSometime later I’ll upload the rest of my new york photos, and write up my thoughts on the week. :) Right now I’m editing on the bed, sunlight streaming in the window. :)
P.S. I made a rather awesome egg using some of the techniques from tawneypup‘s Pysanky Day (‘cept without melting the wax). It was a deep purple sparkly egg, with streaks of white, yellow, orange, and red all around. Unfortunately, I forgot to snap a pic before we ate them. :D

•April 6, 2007 • 3 CommentsThanks to the person commenting in my 107.1 post, I remembered I can listen online! Talking Heads and Elvis Costello for my morning. Pump It Up is very appropriate for my mood today :)
It just started snowing out my window – it’s cool to watch the white flecks fly past the lights. I’m packing up for the flight back home – I have TONS to talk about, but no time right now! Never fear, though, I kept an outline of the fun stuff. ;)
Repacking for the flight is an exercise in deconstruction/reconstruction, as I pull apart what I’ve been using to travel around the city. I still have to find a place to keep a tulip from Lucy. :)
If there’s one annoying thing about essentially travelling with my co-worker, it’s that I don’t get to cruise around the city listening to my headphones, chillin’ and mullin’. I’ve kinda gotten used to that, as a way to mentally summarize my thoughts.
