I really want to learn to play the piano just so I can play Linus and
Lucy. It just seems like so much fun! I find myself making the hand
motions in the car (approximately, of course). Also, I want to learn
more things that require independent work with each hand.
When I was very young, my grandma had an upright piano, and I learned
to play a number of songs on it. and the electric

*tackle* Have an awesome day, beautiful!
Seriously, everyone get off their butts and wish blue_lucy a happy birthday – she’s in school all day, can’t afford a wii, and makes the cutest poodle (with cleavage) you ever did see.

Good thing: Our weekly meeting resulted in some serious productivity, in that we busted out another page and figured out another way to make money without an incredible amount of effort.
Bad thing: A really cool ribbon roll went well when I used the default transition… but we both agreed that it needed some shading. So. since you can’t export frames with alpha channels, I’m … hand-creating the roll. Frame. By. Frame. 36 or so, each one involving a complex bit of cut, flip the cut piece, paste, delete oldest part of the roll, dodge and burn, save, UNDO d&b, repeat.
If all 36 frames come out right the first time, it’ll be a damned miracle.
However, right now I’m going to bed. Tomorrow’s going to be a crazy busy day at work, what with the LA Auto Show and all. I’m considering maybe possibly taking Lansing by storm, just ’cause I haven’t seen folks in awhile. If you’re in the area and would like to see me, comment, e-mail, call, IM, or send smoke signal. I miss y’all!

Wii sold 600,000 units in one week. They also sold over 450,000 copies of Zelda (3 out of every 4 units went with a copy of zelda, in other words). In one week, they made $190 million.

from Penny Arcade:
Joystiq had some interesting articles up over the weekend about introducing your family to the Wii. I actually had a similar experience. We had a house full of friends and family for Thanksgiving and the Wii was really the star of the show. Kara and I both had parents over and we actually had a hard time getting them off of Wii sports. I can’t even count how many rounds of bowling I must have played. It was amazing to watch how easily they picked it up and how much fun they had. What was great was watching Kara’s Dad who loves to bowl but can’t anymore because of his knees. I wouldn’t be surprised if he goes home this week and tries to pick one up.
I think the Wii really is the ultimate party machine. If you crack out Rayman or Wii sports with some friends it’s just instant fun. It really hasn’t been able to occupy much of my solo gaming time though. I’m not sure if that will change but for right now it’s just something that gets broken out when we have company. Sort of like twister or Trivial Pursuit. Will it collect dust like those other games in between family gatherings and game nights with our friends? I guess we’ll see.
Ain’t this cute? It makes me want to whip out the ol’ cafepress store and make my own design.
Further amusement is found in the usual places as photos of broken windows and televisions are cropping up – apparently sweaty fingers and a weak wii remote lanyard make for dangerous play. Also, the official Nintendo reaction to people complaining of soreness after playing is “We aren’t Jenny Craig. If people are sore, they should exercise more.” Seriously.

Once a year or so (generally around wintertime), I write about this song. It seems kind of weird, to write about the same song over and over, but with my hard drive troubles lately, I don’t hear it until I put in a mix CD, and it strikes me anew every time. I hate to say it because it sounds so unusual, but I’m not afraid of the eye-rolling: it humbles me.
Listening to the song stops me in my tracks and makes me take stock in the people who love me, and in myself as a friend to others. Sometimes I do well, and sometimes I don’t, but moments flash before me, times when friends (close and less close) have cried on my shoulder this past year, or when I’ve stayed up very late to calm someone down, or when I’ve made a long drive to see someone I care for. And all those times people have done the same for me.
This is for all of you who offer me reassurance. It’s for those of you who’ve proven to be far more than fair-weather friends, and for those people whose phones have always been open to me when I need someone, even when we aren’t getting along.
You remind me of how beautiful life is. You make it a joyful thing to be there when you need someone.
I love you.

My friend skyfire1228 posted the link to a video I hadn’t seen before. Oh, I remember the song alright, but I hadn’t seen this.
I heartily endorse the concept behind what it has to say. Don’t waste time, and remember to be fearless, mindful of others, and keep everything in perspective.
What do you agree with, what do you disagree with, and most importantly, what are your Lurhmanisms for me?
