Who needs retractions?

…seriously. In my own news organization, not mentioning that there has been any major edit (once published), let alone a polar shift in a story is seriously frowned upon.

ALLERGIES

ARGH. I am very allergic to someone’s perfume. I REALLY WISH I KNEW WHAT
IT WAS. My eyes are leaking all over, and I’m sniffing and they’re itchy.
BOO!

I sense this might be a many-post day. I hope you’re all ready for that.

This one started brief, but is a good page or so, to warn you.

I know I have a few friends who specifically don’t read my long posts. I’m thinking about either creating an opt-in filter (I never have before) or creating an entirely separate blog for them, because these posts are the meat in my journal. This is where I really express who I (think I) am, so you’re kinda missing out on what’s important to me when you pass them by.

So, onward.

When most people talk about love and being misunderstood in the way that they love, they’re usually talking about romantic love. LGBT folk are misunderstood by the straight community, polyamorous folk are totally misunderstood by the monogamy community, and even those who don’t desire to ever be in what you might call a ‘significant’ relationship are misunderstood by those who’d call them callous for not ‘letting love into their life’.

Right now, though, I’m thinking about love in a wider sense.

Good morning!

How’s your day going? What do you plan on doing today?

Also, are you being added by silent_and_calm multiple
times? I am, and takarosa is, so we’re wondering if it’s a
script.

Also, Microsoft takes on Google Earth with Virtual Earth 3D – Okay, come on now, people. I was excited about the 3D earth projects, for sure, but can anyone come up with an original idea these days? *rolls eyes* Is there room for a microsoft product in such a relatively tiny market?

Also, U.S. experiment uses AIDS to fight AIDS – This is the best news I’ve heard in a long time.

I’m going to L-town tonight, I probably won’t be keeping up on the minute-by-minute blows of the election tonight. You’ll let me know if the world explodes, right?

This ‘Silent Aircraft’ design is totally hot. I want to have, like, a million of its babies.

Who of you work reasonably near Detroit?

Lunch should not be so solitary!

More Voting stuff, games, and being The Video Guy

First of all, a note about publius.org, which I linked to in my previous post – it’s so neat. I rarely run into sites, ESPECIALLY “.org” sites, where everything is clean and transparent and easy to use. Now, I noted an error when trying to look at “voting machines by region”, but since I already knew my voting machine, it was easy to look it up by name. Other than that, it shows -exactly who you will be voting for, what their campaign contributions are, and the constitutional amendments up for grab in the language you’ll be seeing at the polls. If you live in Michigan, I highly recommend the site.

Unrelatedly, I spent almost my entire evening last night playing Breath of Fire II for SNES. It’s a game I never got around to, back in the day, and man, I regret that now. Playing it on an emulator means I can check a few boxes and get some improved graphics, too – a little interpolation of the pixels, and you’ve got something close to double the resolution of the original. It’s not as good as if it was programmed that way originally, but it’s still neat to see.

As far as gameplay goes – slash-lj-cut isn’t working, so this is a bunch of other stuff:
