Call me verbose (oh, you’d be the first, I promise), but I would be ecstatic if the response of “This.” would fall out of fashion and thusly die in a fire.

With so many options for speaking coherently, do we really have to do this? I mean, it’s no “huh”, but it is worse than “I agree.” I’m a great fan of verbing nouns (which some would call pretentious word usage), but even I think it sounds a little embarrasingly cute.

How much do I want to dine on this oatmeal-cookie apple pie? So much!

I saw a post recently that made me think about aggressive vs passive conversationalists. You can call them extroverts and introverts, but that’s incredibly simplistic – some people just don’t like to start talking, and other people are difficult to stop.

I was saying that in a situation where you care about the person you’re talking with, I think you have a bit of a social responsibility to try to meet them in the middle. I, for instance, have no difficulty opening my mouth. If I’m not allowing the other person any say in where the conversation is heading, I might as well have e-mailed them, ’cause it’s a monologue.

Further, if there’s a topic someone enjoys talking about or they find important to them, I think I have some amount of responsibility to try to find a way to relate. Not too tough for someone who associates everything with everything else somehow, but partly it’s because I try not to be lazy in the way I talk to people.

That brings up a pet peeve of mine – One thing that really frustrates me is when I’ve gone off into the clouds on some obscure tangent, not even sure where I’m headed, and someone stops me with “huh?” Clearly, for the sake of mankind and your sanity, I needed to be stopped – I’m not going to lie. But what in pete’s name does huh mean? Did you not hear me because I mumbled, did I use too many pronouns, did I misuse a word or use a concept you don’t get, am I speaking total gibberish (likely), or do you mean, “I’m incredulous!”? It’s times like these where I feel like someone isn’t putting any effort into talking.

What about you? Let’s have an LJ-Poll! Please don’t get too hung up on the wording of the first question, it’s just to get a general idea.

Danielle’s wedding, the Mongo Dinner (w/ entertainment), cupcakes everywhere, and rock band! Night ended with snuggles from my sweetie, or at least absent-minded pats while she finished the last chapter of her book *grin*.

I woke up to The Beatles in my head. Weird.

*grumble*

Strike all that.

I have the memory of a god.

Next week, I’ll tell you which one.

As is customary, any posting after midnight is bound to be silly, sappy or incredibly verbose. If you’d like to roll your eyes in advance of my super-earnest wall-o-textTM about humility and being a responsible adult, please do! Look away now, ye cynics. :D

I hear that Kevin Smith is coming to Ann Arbor this weekend (“An Evening with Kevin Smith”). Sorta Q&A, sorta stand-up.

I’m considering it.

Well played, Eidos, well played.

Batman: Arkham Asylum uses DRM to make Batman die in poison

To be honest, I’m pretty fond of this. If you download a cracked copy of Batman: Arkham Asylum (and the game detects it, of course), instead of being able to glide over rooftops with your cape, you will always fall into a sea of poison, below.

When someone posted to the forums about this “bug” in the PC version of the game (yet to be officially released), the developer response:

The problem you have encountered is a hook in the copy protection, to catch out people who try and download cracked versions of the game for free.

It’s not a bug in the game’s code, it’s a bug in your moral code.
