I went to the wedding tonight. Not only was I lucky enough to see two people I like very much tie the knot, but I hung out with a number of other people I like very much in the process.
I practically expected the groom to jump up and down during the ceremony – he saved it until shortly after, in point of fact.
Anyway, I danced as I usually do, and looked rather awesome in my new suit. It was a christmas present to me – I don’t like buying clothes for myself, but I’ll relent with company, and Anne helped me decide yesterday on a pretty great black (gently) pinstriped suit. Yay!
After the festivities were over, a bunch of us got together at a nearby hotel, did a bit more drinking, and played a fascinating card game that … is too complicated to describe.
I left for home (only a few miles away) feeling really good. I hope that my wedding would be as joyful and earnest as theirs.

I have TWO, count’m, TWO wireless routers -besides- the one I’m using, and neither of them are currently supported by the totally awesome open source DD-WRT.
That’s the open-source firmware that would let me turn one of them into a wireless RECEIVER for my lovely new 360, which doesn’t come with one.
This would save me having to run a cable directly across the room whenever I use it.
Alas. Kind of sad how devices are built these days – so proprietary that you can’t experiment. These netgears have all the components to be a wireless receiver, but they didn’t add that functionality. Gr.
I could, of course, switch back to the netgear and flash my linksys, but I *LIKE* my linksys!

It cannot be topped.
For the last 30 minutes, I found myself atop the exotic pets store in Dalaran, dressed as Santa’s Helper, drunk, dancing and throwing snowballs and handfuls of snow at passers-by.
Eventually, a couple of people discovered how I’d gotten myself up there, and made it themselves, wherein we had a Dance Party. They brought enough snowballs so that they could also join in the festivities.
It. was. awesome.
That is all.

This is making me cranky as hell, honestly. I don’t watch TV, and I rarely watch movies alone – I need my internets to keep me sane.
I have someone coming out on Friday. I am trying not to be a cranky bitch, but only being online at work sucks.
Worse, since I do a bit o gaming, it’s not like I feel comfortable bringing my precious external hard drive and my lugtop computer to a random coffee house.
*mutter grumble*
One more day of work after today, and I’ll be free until the 5th.

Guess who got it for me, along with Fallout 3?
I checked to see if my old ID, Sgt ATDT still existed, and it did! A surprising number of people (beekeepers, mostly) had me friended, still.
Meanwhile, I gave Lucy her gifts, including this lovely emerald necklace:

It occurs to me that I’ve only got two people in my Pandora watch list, and I want to see more radio stations by my peeps. So, if you have any, leave me your name here. Mine is the same as always. :)

It’s Virtumonde. I may have had it forever, because I never, ever load IE, and it doesn’t affect the latest version of Firefox.
However, I’ve probably been suffering serious performance degradation because of it… which could be heartening, as things might run a little faster now.
Alas, the fixes tried before didn’t work, and if you look it up on wikipedia, you’ll see why – this one is a byotch of a trojan horse.
At wiki’s advice, I downloaded the only app that seems to do a bang-up job, Malwarebytes’ Anti-Malware on the work laptop, ported it over, and went to town with it a few times.
Things seem to be clean now, so I’ve taken the opportunity to finally update my system. Which, yes, required me to turn on Auto Updates, AND to install IE 7, and frankly, I’m fucking pissed about that. Next computer I buy’s a dual-booting Mac, ’cause I’m sick of being treated like a child by my own Operating System*.
* note: I’m aware that the Apple OS treats you like a child too – it just does so in different ways.

Bad enough that it deleted Spybot’s main DLL out from under me.
Bad enough that I suspect explorer.exe might be flawed.
Bad enough that I couldn’t run a reinstalled spybot until I booted into safe mode.
Spybot discovered it in safe mode, cleared it out, and I rebooted into safe mode again … where it found it again.
If I’m lucky, that did the job, but I don’t suspect I am lucky here, so! My question!
I need to turn a flash drive into a bad-ass virus killer. Do you have a favorite Antivirus that fits on a flash drive? Preferably one that provides a boot environment?
This is all my fault for being reluctant to update XP – I just hate how it pushes you into updating every little thing, and you can’t even run Windows Update without turning on auto update. Oh well, that’s what I get. :)

Do any of you use a particular program to capture video?
See, I’m trying to find an efficient method for capturing lucy’s family video, and the app that comes with the Dazzle hardware is, in a word, horrifyingly bad in everything but results (it actually produces a decent AVI – if it doesn’t crash).
I can’t use Premiere, because it only works with firewire, not USB.
So I’m on the hunt for a freeware solution (or one I can abscond with, I’m not proud)!
Anyway, if any of you have a particular program you use for, say, pulling video off the TV or whathaveyou, please leave me your wisdom here.
