What a weird, but good, evening. Dinner with JZ (can I call you that? hee) turned out to have multiple unexpected guests – I didn’t get home until one. And now I’ve got to make the bed before I can get in it. *grumblecakes*
2 weeks to New York, 4 weeks until Las Vegas. 2 days until Lucykins.

•March 4, 2008 • 10 CommentsStrangely, when I got my phone replaced under warranty, suddenly everyone who called me got classical music (Vivaldi, Lucy says) as my ring.
Frankly, I really dislike that service – I think it’s counterintuitive, and leaves me with no idea whether I’m listening to a custom Voice Mail or not.
Solved it by calling up – according to the V rep, he took a similar call a few months ago by a young girl (10-12) who was desperate to get it off because her friends were making fun of her. I declined to mention the snarky comments I’ve received as well. ;)

“Still, we bet people still fall for the hype — oh hey, if you’re looking for the ultimate in sound, we’ve got half a meter of oxygen-free, triple-wrapped double-insulated Sonically Shielded AmpliSized Egyptian Llama cable here that we’ll part ways with for just a couple grand.”
It is good to remember that the places like Best Buy make the most profit on luxury models, and that goes for cabling as well as TVs. I remember when silver_bits and I went into BB to get her a DVD system, and the salesman insisted she needed a Line Conditioner. You know, to go with her Electronic Shampoo, I’m sure.
Be skeptical, and remember that there is not necessarily a connection between quality and price. “All things being equal” is deceptively attractive logic.

UNRELATED EDIT:
Doesn’t this remind you of Ender’s Game? I can’t wait until solid state hard drives (SSD) are standard for laptops – the (virtual) end to loss of data from dropping!
Help!
•March 3, 2008 • 11 CommentsMy mom has a couch she wants to donate to me, but I don’t have a truck anymore. Does anyone have the ability to help me out here? She lives in Berkley (12 and Greenfield) and I live in Northville (5 and Haggerty).
Her new couches have come in at Art Van, so she needs me to take this one off her hands to get it in.
Heeeelp!

Since when did the history channel become the bastion of ghosts, UFOs and monsters?
Today
•March 3, 2008 • 3 CommentsI elected to stay home today, partly because I was up late again last night, and partly because I know Lucy’s going through some feverish trouble, and I’m trying to keep from the same fate. That’s been successful so far, by the way – just a slight headache this afternoon.
I think this evening will hold a stop for dinner and (if I can find it) the purchase of Star Wars IV. :) I’ve spent most of the past hour watching a documentary on The Revolution. I’ve yet to decide whether this is a good or bad thing.
TV via internet
•March 1, 2008 • 9 CommentsSomeone once clued me in to where I could watch (perhaps download? don’t recall) TV shows over the internet, and I don’t remember where it was.
See, I don’t have TiVo or anything like it – heck, I don’t even have digital cable. However, I’m intruiged by both Smash Lab and Lewis Black’s upcoming show, Root of all Evil, and yet I just never seem to be home at that time.
I’m downloading shows via shareaza, but I thought there might be a better way.
