I should say that I was stunned to find a tiny chicken in the pocket of my blue jeans as I was cleaning them out this morning. While I do recall seeing tiny chickens during SkennCon, I do not recall ever picking one up.

While walking out of Saica last night (with netmouse, flinx, alex, jeff and sarah), we were treated to a transformer explosion across the street. Huge boom, loss of power, and giant sparks of green and blue celebrated the move of flinx into his new home.

This morning, I found my doors sealed shut, my wipers immobile, and ice on the inside of my windshield. I imagine the temperature dropped like a rock shortly after midnight.

I’ve been making an effort to eat healthier things at home rather than stop for fast food. In a highly unusual move, I made pancakes, eggs and toast for myself this morning, as well as a sandwich for lunch.

I haven’t forgotten about you!

Work’s been a bear, and I got home late last night and just wanted to chill out. Also, I’m accumulating photos (yanked some from netmouse and idunnor already) so I’ll have a gallery ready when I make my SkennCon post. :)

Boss asked me to stay late for him on Friday so he can go to his kid’s play. Aren’t I charming? He’s been inundating me with minor crap he doesn’t want to do, which keeps delaying the projects I need to get done. I’ve gotta get the photo galleries running today so I’ll have time to break up the crappy World Congress videos that no one will watch (and no, I didn’t make them) tomorrow, so I have time at the end of the week to finish getting the book out.

Next week, I leave Tuesday morning for Chicago with a coworker, do my AutoShow stuff, chill at the Swissotel, and return. I can either stay an extra day and return with the coworker on Saturday, or fly out (more or less whenever I want). It feels weird to be returning to Chicago so soon after I left (but I promise you, Yolk will see another visit from the Skennedy).

I’m lying in blue_lucy‘s bed, trying not to think about work tomorrow, so don’t expect this to be long (that’ll come later), but this was certainly the very best birthday I’ve ever had.

I texted everyone (but the untextable Nancy!) last night after we left the train station to share my love and affection once more. I’m happy to be back, but I was still sad to see it end. :)

(more tomorrow, probably when I should be working!)

PS I made badges for Dave, Rennie and Laura too, so I’ll have to get them to you sometime. :)

SkennCon soon!

I am so geeked.

I was pretty down yesterday, but I’ve gotten more excited today as I’ve gotten things done for it.

A few more things to do, and then I’ll be set. All aboard!

The coolest thing I’ve seen all day

If you aren’t into geeky explanations, go to 2 minutes, 40 seconds for the really fun stuff.

Hot!

From a /. comment about Windows 7 being released in 2009 instead of 2010:

This time around businesses might just hold onto XP until new Windows is released and it proves to be an improvement over XP.

Microsoft is not as strong in a desktop area as it used to be, after all the goodness coming out of Linux distros and Apple. If they try to be tough and EOL [End of Life] XP while Vista is the only MS alternative, it’ll be like throwing a chair in their own face.

I have to admit, I have been increasingly interested in exploring a linux distro on my home laptop. I have XP, and it’s a Dell, and I don’t think it even -came- with install disks, and it is sorely in need of a reinstall. The only thing stopping me is the applications issue – I don’t want to find a vaguely acceptable open source substitute for Premiere.

PS Know why I stopped using tags for everything outside of “covet”? It’s because you can’t select tags when writing a post, you can only add them, and I’ve already run into the problem of identical tags with different capitalization. How annoying.
